So what exactly does Trump want from Canada, China, and Mexico that'll stop these tariffs?

AOC might be trying to make that happen in the near future.

He has said what he wants from Canada - he wants them to be the 51st state.

President Trump on Friday congratulated Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.) for opting to vote to advance the House-Republican drafted six-month government funding bill, despite pushback from liberal colleagues.

“Congratulations to Chuck Schumer for doing the right thing — Took ‘guts’ and courage! The big Tax Cuts, L.A. fire fix, Debt Ceiling Bill, and so much more, is coming. We should all work together on that very dangerous situation. A non pass would be a Country destroyer, approval will lead us to new heights,” Trump wrote on Trump Social.

He continued, “Again, really good and smart move by Senator Schumer. This could lead to something big for the USA, a whole new direction and beginning! DJT”

Schumer surprised Washington on Thursdaywhen he announced on the Senate floor that he would vote to advance the funding bill, providing crucial political cover to Senate Democratic centrists after a tense internal debate over whether to vote for the bill to keep the government open. The deadline to avert a government shutdown is 11:59 p.m. Friday.

Schumer acknowledged in his announcement that the House bill is “very bad” but warned a government shutdown would produce a far worse result. He argued a shutdown “would give Donald Trump and Elon Musk carte blanche to destroy vital government services at a significantly faster rate than they can right now.”

Schumer is right that not passing the CR would be disastrous. Definitely a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation.

Disaster is coming, and it will be on Republicans.

Honestly I believe avoiding the government shutdown is the correct move for Democrats right now.

The CR is the same budget as before except for $6B increase in defense spending and a $13B reduction in non defense spending. The $13B reduction is pennies compared to the $6.75T budget (about 0.19%).

If Democrats blocked it, Republicans would say this is Biden's budget and Democrats are trying to sabotage/shut down the government.

Tldr: This isn't the hill to die on.

    1. Trump and Elon want to cut the federal
government as much as possible, and a
government shutdown essentially does just that on a wider scale

    2. It diverts attention away from Trump's impact on the economy/markets and people will start to blame Democrats for resulting negative impact to the economy.

    3. Democrats are not popular right now and
will clearly be held as the responsible party if
    they force a government shutdown.

Bernie has been out doing townhalls in red districts and is doing well. I am tired of Shumer and if they can't understand that the maga folks don't play by the rules and they need to change their tactics........................hell, let AOC have more airtime, she is not afraid to speak her mind, let the lady Crockett from Tx go out and get more air time (she is AWESOME), let the younger generation who are not held down by decades old views get out there and talk. I am totally torn on whether they should allow a shutdown simply because that's what elmo wants, he would have unfettered access to every department and what better time to do it when everyone is home. F that noise from maga that this would be a Democratic shutdown, maga will by that BS but I think a small % of the people who voted for trump and now regret it would see through the BS................The Dems had ZERO input on the CR, so F*** maga, this is on them if they cant get the votes.

Democrats are shackled by the notion of seniority which is how they end up with a 70 y/o with throat cancer as head of the Oversight Committee because “it’s his time”
