Peak career fwar for Houston’s projected opening day lineup:

    Altuve 7.7
    Paredes 4.3
    Alvarez 6.4
    Walker 3.9
    Diaz 3.1
    McCormick 3.3
    Pena 3.3
    Rodgers 1.8
    Meyers 2.0
    Bench: Dubon 1.9, Gamel 1.0, Caratini 1.9, Guillorme 1.8

I like Whitcomb and would prefer him on the opening day roster as well, especially if it's a question of Whitcomb vs. Guillorme or even Dubon. The question is really just where he plays and if he starts. My preference would be to give it to Rodgers, because why bring in a guy like that unless you're going to give him a chance to start, at least early on? If he's no better a hitter than his away/righty numbers have shown, you look at other options, like Whitcomb. And Whitcomb deserves spot starts in the infield in the meantime.

I'll trust the front office to make the right call here, though. If they don't see Rodgers as a starter, you're not wasting a ton of money for him to be on your bench.

I don't understand Dubon, Guillorme and Rodgers all on the roster.

Gimme Dubon and Rodgers, and a corner IF/OF type bat.

What does "top of his right arm" mean?

Yes. My hope is top of arm means near shoulder not near hand.

Looks like Chas has a hit and Diaz has a walk. Halley’s comet type game.

I don't like all 3 of them either.

But neither Dubon nor Rodgers can hit RHP.

Couple that with 2 regular starters in Pena and Meyers who are also very weak vs RHP and it is very clear that this team needs a middle infielder who can hit RHP, even if it's just to start occasionally.

Guillorme is basically average (quite an upgrade actually)vs RHP and could spot start once every 1-2 weeks at 2b and SS.

I'm not advocating for that. I'm merely stating it is a possibility and there is a legitimate reason if they do it.

I hope Guillaume or Rodgers will accept a stint with Sugar Land until they're needed

Listened to a game on radio today for 2 outs.

So many unfamiliar names I thought the broadcast was talking about the opponent.

    They were not

I can't imagine how that could happen during Spring Training. Shocking!

Pena is having a hell of a spring. If he gets going, the outlook changes quite a bit.
