haha yeah me too, why do you think I’ve gone through all this trouble to force other teams to put their 2nd big on him..
I see it as similar to the most recent Raptors and Lakers chips. Oft injured bucket getter joins an established good defense and luck and timing work out.
Are u comparing Embiid to Kawhi and AD? Embiid is nowhere near Kawhi when it comes to postseason level of play…never has been, never will be. Embiid has 1 of the largest drop-offs from regular reason to postseason play in NBA history. AD missed 9 games the year the Lakers won the title. Embiid missed 43 games last season, and will end up missing 63 games this season. He needs yet another surgery. This also isn’t getting into the fact that he is owed 55, 59, 64, and 69 mil the next 4 years for his age 31-34 seasons. He is not gonna get any healthier, and he doesn’t even play all that well in the playoffs when he’s available. u want the Rockets to be stuck with 4 more years of max declining Embiid hardly playing
I havent logged into clutchfans much lately. I think I have 1 post in the last month or 2. Im gonna log back out now.
Yes, not saying Embiid hero ball but there would be a functional trickle down effect of having him on the court at the right time in the context of the other guys on the team that affects the team offensive rating in the same way as an AD or Kwahi.
but it won’t affect the team offensive rating in the same way, especially when compared to Kawhi because Embiid is simply not that guy in the postseason and again, u want the Rockets to be paying a hobbled, aging, declining Embiid between 55-69 mil/yr for the next 4 seasons with your justification being that even tho he will miss a ton of games every regular season, he might be some secret weapon in the postseason even tho his play declines majorly every postseason, he is a known choker, and the injuries only continue piling up
What would be a good package for Zion that we could stomach? All the Phoenix picks? Or like....Jaesean Tate and Aaron Holiday?
His presence and problem he presents would make Alpi the guy. But yes, if I had good talks with him, Ime, and the medical staff. I would rank it ahead of: bringing back same, proposed trade ideas with big asset cost for KD or Booker, or praying for Cooper Flag.. as most likely to win a trophy by 2028.
I wouldn’t trade for him. I don’t know. Set to make $39M next year. This is not directed at you but I see multiple posts for Durant or Booker or whoever … “The most I’ll do is Brooks and pick!” Or “Tate, Landale and a pick!” Or “Brooks, Cam and a pick!” Besides the no, you’re not trading our “trash” for another team’s good player, you have to match salaries! No, you can’t just send Brooks’ $21M for Durant’s $54M or Tate & Landale’s $12M for Booker’s $54M. Or $25M outgoing for a guy making $45M+. Ha no! Doesn’t work! You want someone, you’re gonna have to start trading from the “core”. Adams $12.6M Landale $8M Green $8M Tate $7.5M Holiday $4.6M They had those $40M in expiring/non-guaranteed salaries. And they did nothing with it. And now they’re losing it. (All those guys are expiring, will still have Landale’s $8M NG salary). Yeah, sure I guess they can re-sign them and then trade them after December 15th? Fred $44.8M (team option) Sengun $33.9M Jalen $33.3M Dillon $21.1M Jabari $12.3M Reed $10.6M Amen $9.6M Jock $8M Tari $5.6M Holiday $4.9M (team option) Cam $3.5M
The 39m makes it a non starter then regardless. I tend to agree though. Bad contracts are bad contracts and they're going to be really hard to move (Booker). Rockets are in an enviable position right now and committing to a bad contract is an easy way go undo all of that.
Guys I think his career might actually be over. Not in the sense of he will never play another game of basketball at all, but in the same sense that Yao's career was effectively over after that injury in the 2009 Playoffs. Like, Embiid is going to try to rehab and play basketball again but don't be surprised if his career comes to an end shortly and he's never able to play at his full strength again.
I’m trail blazing. Being bold when others are fearful. Turning crisis into opportunity. Everyone said the same when I mentioned Ausaur Thompson a year ago. I got like 14 “He might never play agains” lol I’m getting that 2nd Doctor opinion.
yeah maybe Dayron Sharpe could be a big enough of a threat to force 6’7 guys onto Alpi, get up 10 3’s a game, and open the lane for Amen and Jalen. If he can get the offense into the top 10, might be enough to top OKC and Boston in a year or 2
If the sixers had Sengun, Amen, Jalen, Tari, and Jabari they’d be a 4 seed in the east, Joel would be gearing up and it wouldn’t be considered a bad contract until we saw how they performed in playoffs. it’s just context
I think it's a foregone conclusion that Fred is gone if we're acquiring a huge salary. The only other possibility is you add Jalen or Sengun for a cream of the crop player that is shockingly available. A lot of times people on the board will compare the historical data of players like Green and Booker but they don't realize Stone is an asset manager, he'll be wondering how likely it is that Booker is better than Jalen for the next 5 years not the past 5 years - a question for which more than 50% of the answer sits outside of past stats and metrics. Jalen is on the precipice of his prime years so slight improvement is the most reasonable assumption. Booker is entering the exact age where players at the SG position start declining, so a slow decline is the most reasonable assumption. What complicates this further is Booker makes 40% more in salary per season than Jalen and that will remain at 30% after their next extensions when - if both are maxed - Booker will be around $70m and Jalen around $50m. It would have to be at least an almost-MVP we acquire for Jalen or Alpi I think. So that leaves us with Fred and Dillon as the big salaries. One of these guys will get benched next season anyway, so really we can cash them both in for a single better player and then use other tools to replace whichever one was going to the bench. We could replace FVV, for example, by signing Brogdon to an MLE deal. He's good for 30 minutes off the bench I think. Can have that stabilizing effect like Fred. The difference between these two players off the bench as mostly off ball players is not going to have much of an impact on wins. Our core will be taking usage and minutes from Fred anyway. I also think Ime is showing signs of not really believing in Jabari - which I don't agree with - but starting Eason over Jabari last game made me suspicious. If a guy like Lauri becomes available (which I fully expect), I would start worrying if I were Jabari. I think these guys are at major risk if we're acquiring someone we have a realistic chance of getting: Fred $44.8M (team option) Dillon $21.1M Jock $8M Holiday $4.9M (team option) Cam $3.5M
