Yahoo sports gives the Texans an "F" for free agency. They said the team's biggest problem was the offensive line and they traded away two of their lineman. Hope they have a trick up their sleeve.
As much as I don’t like 610 and never listen to them, I can see this. But it could also be tactic. Let veterans know we don’t need them, even though we do, because they’re asking for too much.
I fully expect David Andrews to get signed if medicals checkout. Veteran with ties to Nick. Should be a quality backup in the room...
Kindaaaaaa too late for that…. CJ could fare worse with rookies or second year players at the helm. But at the very least there’s room for improvement. The SWARM mentality isn’t a shtick, it’s understanding that there’s more on the table when stepping onto the gridiron than just yourself. You play for the man next to you and that I fear is something our oline has failed to do, even with veteran experience.
If Patterson played with two average guards those numbers would sky rocket. My concern is they plug Scruggs back in at center with the center no longer having the previous responsibilities. More bang for your buck with Patterson at center than guard. Howard/Jackson /Patterson/ Scruggs/ Fisher
Been doing some number crunching using combine / pro day data with comparisons to "successful" (All Pro / Pro Bowl / etc.) players along OL. #1) scratch most OL players I had been interested in earlier #2) the following have had the measureables / profile (barring injuries) of past successful OL IOL Brandon Scherff IOL Mark Glowinski Noteboom hits one of the key success factors (mass / agility) but misses in explosion (always my concern) Good news is based on combine data Kelvin Banks has makings of a really solid OL / OT (short-ish arms - as one usually wants over 34"... TWSS). Also, OT Logan Brown could be a really good get in 4th / 5th. On the IOL, Caleb Rogers and Eli Cox share similar profiles to past successful OL. Going to continue crunching numbers. But if BDN signs any new free agents Scherff & Glowinsji get my vote on interior. (Not enough data on Becton, but his performance last year as a RG kinda speaks for itself.)
Ummm. So the best way to improve the line is to keep the 5 guys who sucked last year in tact? This grade makes zero sense.
Update Cody Ford was a good get for Bengals Laken Tomlinson should have the chops on interior :eyes emoji:
