As you and others have stated, it doesn’t really matter, but I do want to point out that a UN court concluded it is plausible that Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip could amount to genocide. Both terrorism and genocide are against U.S. government policy. But again, it doesn’t matter. A bad faith executive could designate and label anything in any way it wants.
Yes, Bobby Fischer, born and raised in Chicago, his citizenship was revoked, look it up. I think he was talking crap about 9-11, was anti-semitic etc.
The idea of "could happen" is pointless here. It is happening so that isn't the discussion here. The discussion here is if what Trump is doing can be considered fascism and I believe that's a very easy answer for anyone with any semblance of curiosity in learning history. Do you get that? We know it's happening. So yes it could happen because it's happening.
No, he was arrested in Japan for not having a passport (because his US citizenship was revoked by the US government), then Iceland gave him the citizenship since he played chess there in the 70s. I think thats where he died. I can't remember vividly since its been a minute but I remember when it was going on since I like chess, and he was the best chess player ever
Nope. Having your passport revoked doesn't mean you lost your citizenship. It just means you are restricted from traveling. He renounced his citizenship.
Unless they got 5 million dollars I think if Mahmoud Khalil had 5 million dollars .. . he can purchase it Rocket River
sure, but green cards can be revoked, which makes it effectively indefinite why even bother with green cards otherwise? the entire point is they are a trial period before citizenship
The only purpose in questioning it is to excuse Hamas and denigrate Israel. I have never heard anyone focus on the number and nature of rapes that happened on 10/7 in Israel that wasn't also promoting the Palestinian cause and trying to denigrate Israel. I'm not saying there couldn't be some individual who is just hyper focused on accuracy, just that I haven't seen it and I don't expect to. Finkelstein and Rabbani are not just truth seekers with a purely academic interest in exactly what happened. They have specifically and repeatedly agitated against Israel and in favor of "resistance" from the Palestinians. From Finkelstein - "For the past 20 years the people of Gaza, half of whom are children, have been immured in a concentration camp. Today they breached the camp's walls. If we honor John Brown's armed resistance to slavery; if we honor the Jews who revolted in the Warsaw Ghetto—then moral consistency commands that we honor the heroic resistance in Gaza. I, for one, will never begrudge—on the contrary, it warms every fiber of my soul—the scenes of Gaza's smiling children as their arrogant Jewish supremacist oppressors have, finally, been humbled. The stars above in heaven are looking kindly down. Glory, glory, hallelujah. The souls of Gaza go marching on!" There might be some person who calls into question the exact number and nature of rapes and murders that happened during the Hamas attacks. I doubt it, but it is possible. True, but irrelevant. It doesn't really matter if there were widespread rapes along with the murders, or only a few rapes along with the murders while a bunch of terrorists were killing unarmed people at a music festival. The people who are questioning the exact number and nature of rapes that occurred are not doing so in good faith. The agenda is to promote Hamas and denigrate Israel. How many rapes and murders would be acceptable? How many murders? I have said that there was widespread rioting and violence and that the people involved in the violence should be punished accordingly. Pretty much the opposite of the Hamas apologists. The only doubt I have cast related to January 6th, is whether it qualifies as an insurrection (I say it is a riot), whether the people involved who committed no violent acts were treated unfairly (you shouldn't spend months or years in prison for trespassing during a protest), and whether Lt. Byrd was justified in killing Ashley Babbitt (under normal police rules, he was not).
youre saying that the government revoked his citizenship because he talked crap about 9/11 and was an anti-Semite? You sure about that dude? If that’s the case then why are Alex jones, Mel Gibson, Kanye west (also from Chicago), nick fuentes, ect still here? Or the neo nazis who marched through Charlottesville chanting “Jews will not replace us” still here. Trump called them “very fine people” btw. He also had hitler-loving kanye to the white house and nick fuentes to his house for dinner and made Mel Gibson ambassador to Hollywood and also went on Alex jones show.
Nonetheless you can look up the list of people that had their citizenship revoked for treason. So yes, your citizenship is not guaranteed @jo mama read about it. The official reason why was because he played chess in Yugoslavia, the country that was under US sanctions at the time. But we all know thats bs.
In 2004, Bobby Fischer's U.S. passport was revoked, and he was detained in Japan for attempting to travel with an invalid passport after playing a chess match in Yugoslavia, violating US economic sanctions. He played a match there in '92, why did they wait 12 years to revoke his passport? Lol come on man, they'll makeup a reason if they wanted to
you can also look up the list of people that trump pardoned after the attacked our nations capitol and beat up cops on 1/6. they committed treason in the name of trump and he pardoned them. what am i supposed to read about exactly? you said his citizenship was revoked because he "was talking crap about 9-11, was anti-semitic etc". did the us government revoke bobby fischers citizenship beacuse he "was talking crap about 9-11, was anti-semitic etc"? yes or no?
Well they revoked it after he did those things, if the real reason was because he played a chess match in Yugoslavia in '92, they would have revoked it then n not 12 years later after he said all that crap about 9-11, Jews, USA, the US government etc.
Everything is effectively indefinite, as no one lives forever. Legally, these statuses aren’t indefinite but permanent. Revocation is possible, and no one is arguing otherwise. The real question is whether the state should have the power to label anyone a terrorist or against U.S. policy and, based on that alone, strip citizenship or permanent resident status and deport them without due process. The answer should be no. Due process is essential. If we give this away, everyone is at risk of a state running wild. As posters here have already pointed out, this isn’t just a theoretical concern. It has happened before, as seen with the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. You could be next, as someone with strong political views that a bad-faith government could label as being against U.S. policy or even as terrorism, using that as justification to act against you without due process.
I can confidently say this is completely wrong. Historians and others who value facts are driven by a commitment to truth, not by an agenda to excuse one side or denigrate another. The pursuit of accurate information is essential.
Since the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II was brought up here, the last time the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 was used was for the internment of Japanese Americans. This administration is now planning to invoke it.... The Alien Enemies Act has been invoked three times in US history – all during war – according to the Brennan Center. During World Wars I and II, it was used to justify detentions and expulsions of German, Austro-Hungarian, Italian and Japanese immigrants. The law played a role in the infamous US policy of Japanese internment during World War II, according to the non-partisan law and policy institute.
