As someone that grew up and is friends with a couple athletes - and knows some socially as an adult.... it isn't hard for me to see why they struggle. A lot them are making millions or dollars before they are 21 years old so they have never had a regular job or responsibilities. Then they have assistants and advisors that do the budgeting and does their calendars, pay their bills --- usually these are relatives but sometimes they hire someone. So - even with help, and doing what they are told to do --- they never learn or develop the skills on how to budget, schedule or live a normal life because they didn't have to. They also don't even know how to date or socialize, because people come to them and they get used to thinking it is normal for people to use them. This all happens slowly ---- then you throw in women and if they have a child, and they break up with the wife and it gets nasty - they think that is the normal pattern. These guys don't even usually spend like crazy at first, it is a slow gradual thing - and then they fail to slow down when they make less money they are set in their ways until it is too late. I guarantee you that Ariza is a normal and reasonable guy that did not grow up with two parents setting an example of how to run a household and save up money, etc. and by 20 years old was living in a bubble. I hope that he gets it straightened out - I have heard several people say that he is a great dad.
I doubt he is broke. He probably has hidden cash of at least 10-15 million. He should sell some crap and simply his lifestyle. He will ge fine as long as he’s not into drugs and I doubt he is.
