He has really taken a nice jump forward this year. the body control on the jumpshot has improved so much. I am super optimistic that he continues to become more efficient offensively.
And yet lots of folks on here are ready to give up Jalen, FVV (or Brooks) and all the PHX picks for Booker.
To his luck, March is a lengthy arse month to turn things around. Not short like February with a break.
I think we'd all like to believe that at some point Amen takes over as the point ..... but he's far from ready for that role right now. Handle a bit too loose and is quite turnover prone .... and then there's the shooting. It has to improve. I don't want FVV back next year, he's just too limited offensively .... but I'm not comfortable going into next season without a quality starting point and ideally a better backup that Holiday who is really ore of a small 2 guard. Maybe Amen takes control of that position at some point ....
If Amen knew what position he was going to play, he could do it. But because of his versatility, it's hindering him from progressing at PF, PG or whatever position they want him to be at long term. KEEP HIM AT PG AND WATCH HIM THRIVE
Why does it have to be luck? He's had a great yr, except for Nov. Even then, he had a few 30pt games and a 40pt game
Read the lines and between the lines, it says he has enough time to turn it around. Luck refers to abundant time. Would you rather he has 3 days left averaging 14 ppg-15 ppg....so I guess not. If an above average year equals great year then SGA's year cannot even be described.
I can't stress this enough.....first time I've seen Jalen get the MJ whistle calls. Tony Brothers had a bigger beef with Durant, Booker or Beal than keeping Jalen down.....at least for one night.
Jalen is a much better player when he gets to play next to Fred VanVleet. Jalen's rough February coincided with FVV's absence. The starting lineup makes so much more sense when FVV is out there. There's still too much Jalen cheerleading on this board though. Jalen's supporters come out in droves only after his good games. Let's imagine that every game this season counts equally and we don't just look at the stats for single games. Jalen Green's true shooting percentage this season is 54.7. His true shooting percentage his rookie year was 54.7. That's the same number for those of you who aren't math-oriented. That's disappointing considering the talent around him has improved dramatically. Jalen's assists are actually down this season compared to the last two and his turnovers are up compared to last season. Jalen has not improved offensively overall. Every game counts. Jalen has improved a lot defensively though and has become a useful player overall. There's still potential for him to improve offensively. Hopefully he finishes the season strong. It's just that the actual data doesn't show improvement. Feel free to tell me about your "eye test" data and your feelings. If Jalen continues to plateau offensively, he will be Malik Monk with slightly better defense. Malik Monk is nothing special. Count me among those who would gladly trade Jalen Green and all the Phoenix picks for Devon Booker. Me and every other General Manager in the entire NBA.
Jalen was in his "Brunson" mode yesterday. Very happy with that game yesterday. The roller coaster continues....but it's been much less rollercoastery this year than previously.
