I haven't been to Asia, but my go to vacations abroad are usually in Costa Rica and Ireland. I just love them both so much I keep returning.

Yep, lived in Germany for 2 years and traveled all around Europe. Paris was great, but my family loved Italy--history, food, wine, and people were all great. We really loved living in the little village we lived in. Germans are very family oriented and we were a two minute walk from a lake that would be filled with families on the weekend. German food, wines and beers are fantastic as well. Paris at night is beautiful and there is also some great food and wine there as well. Definitely get over there. If you can find a good tour that mixes experiences with free time to explore that will give you the richest memories.
I don't want to derail the thread, but Asia is awesome. We lived in the Philippines (4 years) and Japan (2 years), and traveled to Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Rep of Korea, and Australia. Thailand was my favorite. My kids loved Japan.
I too do not want to derail the thread, but I lived in the Netherlands for 3 years of HS (86 - 88). Dutch people were much more chill back then and almost every single one spoke English. I have been to Paris 4X and it has rained 4X... lol. Parisians struck me as rude especially if you tried to speak their language and only did so because it was a French class trip! lol Been all over Western Europe and several parts of what was then Eastern Europe. Rode Trans-Siberian express while the Wall was still up as Eastern Europe was becoming disillusioned with the Soviet influence. Been to PRC when it was just beginning to establish itself as a modern juggernaut. Been a minute! Ok, back to regularly scheduled programming & discussion.
