I have an explanation- the last 10 years of technology and software have been about companies whith enormous market power bleeding its users dry.

User experience is way way down on the priority list of Facebook, Google, Amazon etc - the only thing that matter is growth and revenue which generally means ads or subscriptions. If your google search is filled iwth AI slop & you had to scroll/click lower or run another search - guess what, they made more $ in ad impressions. Sucks for you.

Tesla always pretends it's a software company to justifiy its insane (STILL INSANELY HIGH) P/E ratio - so they follow this "treat your users like ****, they're locked in the prison" model as well.

Tesla is an electric car company, which are favorites of left leaning, environmentally conscious people.

My very MAGA family screams about the evils of windmills, solar power, and electric cars.

Elon Musk has very loudly proclaimed his support for one of these types of people and insulted the other in every way imaginable...it's not the side common sense would suggest you take.

A few years back I legit considered a Tesla(didn't drive enough miles to justify it), but I wouldn't in good conscience be caught in one now.

Personally I prefer not to take sides in issues like this. This reminds me when my mom refused to buy Levi jeans growing up because they supported teh gays, so I was subjected to shitty uncomfortable jeans because someone couldn't separate their opinions from rational decision making.

Anyhoo, I completely understand. I had to drive a tundra last week. After driving an EV for over a year, I reminded me back when my friends in high school insisted on driving manual transmissions because they were too cool for an automatic. looking back, I realized how r****ded that thinking was. Ego was more important than convince and technology. Why tf would someone drive an ICE over EV if it wasn't for practical reasons. The vast majority of people do not care what people drive provided its not a disruption.

Adding an interface introduces another attack vector for hacking.

It looks like Elon wants to make grok a $ubscription Based Cloud $ervice which reduces onboard memory needs to something their existing cars could handle. More would be better (4gb is for everything plus the local language model), but that's the script he's playing.

It's all up to their software engineers to stick to that landing even as you note other trillion dollar companies abandoned and enshittified their personal assistants.

Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Trump says he will label violence against Tesla dealers domestic terrorism. I don't have a problem with that except for the fact that when the violence is inflicted on others by Trump supporters, like during the insurrection he paints it as Patriotism. He won't call those white supremacists who attack gays and brown skinned people, or burn mosques as domestic terrorists I bet. Domestic terrorism comes in all forms, from all types, and labeling only certain ones domestic terrorists is wrong. Then again, Trump has always been that way. He will never change.

I don't think the product is bad enough to want to burn and vandalize it.

Those goofy looking croc shoes, on the other hand, deserve a one way ticket to the dump.

Tesla has lost 40% of their market share in china to BYD. I'm sure Chinese individuals are going to pay 30% more for a dying brand just cuz Trump got into one.

Jesus man I feel bad for attacking you but youre sincerely a effin idiot

Let me mansplain it to you.
USA sold appx 1.2M EVs last year, accounting for appx. 8% of new sales.
China sold appx 20M, or as some reports 50% of sales. That is probably on the high end, but much greater than 8%.

So math is hard for you. Which market would you be happy being #2 in if you couldn't be #1?

China is being very compliant to the green energy initiative. US is being left behind because of the boomers and their dumb supporters.

They already have a s**t ton of Cybertrucks mouldering on lots. I gues good time to buy real estate/parking lots directly adjacent to a Tesla dealership? Tesla's going to need a lot more parking to store the unwanted inventory if they double domestic production.

What don't you get? Tesla is a dying brand. The only reason Tesla was ever popular in China was cuz it was being supported by the CCP while they stole Tesla trade secrets and incorporated it into their local industry.

When you're down 60-70% in countries like Australia and France you have a major issue. The brand is destroyed because of Musk

Its a dying brand. My uncle is a surgeon in Los Angeles and sold his model s this week because he didn't feel safe driving it around. He said he got too many stares and bad looks from his colleagues.

Its a dead brand. Liberals aren't touching it while MAGA think climate change is fake. What's his target demo?
