I'm aware of the reports from Feb 2024. However, the Pentagon and SpaceX blocked Russia's access to Starlink satellites in May 2024, about 3months after those reports. So, Russia should no longer be using Starlink to "power" its drones (it was also unclear how widespread the use was). The question remains: what are they using for real-time communication with their (reportedly Iranian-made) drones, if anything? "In May 2024, the Pentagon and SpaceX eventually blocked Russia's use of Starlink satellites in the Ukrainian War" There isn’t one at SpaceX’s production capacity yet, but the technology does exist in Europe, and a 2nd source will eventually emerge. The question is when it will be ready for mass deployment in Ukraine.
Interesting (If True) Re-gaining the Russian Contract would be quite the GET for Elon So Russia winning this war would be good for Starlink I'm sure they pay better than Ukraine can . . .more terriroty and potential market growth Rocket River
If Putin dies/the current Russian regime collapses I think it maybe possible but absent that I do not think Ukraine will be able to reclaim most of their lost territory.
this is a trader jorge/big texxx/mojoman/conquistador alt-account, right? he joined a houston rockets basketball message board last month to only post in the D&D. did you really need a 5th account here dude? LOL.
EXCLUSIVE — Vladimir Putin has made deliberately maximalist demands ahead of negotiations to end the war in Ukraine, which he knows are likely to be unacceptable to Kyiv and Europe, Western security officials told Bloomberg. — There there is no indication Putin is willing to compromise on any of his goals, and he is ready to continue fighting the war if he does not get what he wants, the people said. — The assessments about Putin’s intent cast doubt on whether he is serious about negotiating a realistic lasting peace settlement with Ukraine. They complicate Trump’s efforts to secure a deal, and clash with the president’s belief that Putin wants peace. — Putin has said Ukraine must formally commit to neutrality, abandon any ambition to join NATO, demilitarise and recognise Russian claims to annexed territory. Lavrov has ruled out European peacekeepers. There’s no sign those maximalist demands have changed. — It raises the prospect that Trump would have to agree to all of Putin’s terms if he wants a deal, or walk away. Both would risk rupturing relations between the US and Europe and seeing Ukraine fight on without US support.
I didn't say it was likely. You asked for a "realistic" scenario. That's a "realistic" scenario. Putin is 73 years old. If he dies, who knows what happens. It could change everything.
Ukraine agrees to U.S.-led ceasefire plan if Russia accepts Ukraine has agreed to an immediate 30-day ceasefire negotiated by the United States if Russia accepts the plan. “Ukraine is ready to start talking and stop shooting,” said Secretary of State Marco Rubio. As part of the plan, the United States immediately lifted its pause on sharing intelligence with Ukraine, and will resume security assistance to that country. U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to conclude “as soon as possible a comprehensive agreement for developing Ukraine’s critical mineral resources,” officials said. Ukraine agreed Tuesday to an immediate 30-day ceasefire negotiated by the United States if Russia accepts the plan, officials said. As part of the plan, the United States immediately lifted its pause on sharing intelligence with Ukraine, and will resume security assistance to that country, which was invaded by Russia more than three years ago. “Ukraine is ready to start talking and stop shooting,” said Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Jedda, Saudi Arabia, after more than seven hours of negotiations in that city between high-level American and Ukrainian delegations. Both U.S. President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy agreed to conclude “as soon as possible a comprehensive agreement for developing Ukraine’s critical mineral resources,” according to a joint statement by the two nations’ governments. Zelenskyy in a statement said the planned ceasefire would halt all hostilities, “not just for missiles, drones and bombs, not just in the Black Sea, but along the entire front line.” “Ukraine welcomes this proposal. We see it as a positive step, and we are ready to take it,” Zelenskyy said. “The United States must now persuade Russia to do the same. If Russia agrees, silence will take effect immediately.” Rubio said, “Today, we made an offer that the Ukrainians have accepted, which is to enter into a ceasefire and into immediate negotiations to end this conflict in a way that’s enduring and sustainable and accounts for their interests, their security, their ability to prosper as a nation,” Rubio said. “And hopefully we’ll take this offer now to the Russians, and we hope that they’ll say yes, that they’ll say yes to peace,” Rubio said. “The ball is now in their court.” In a joint statement, the U.S. and Ukrainian delegations said the interim, month-long ceasefire “can be extended by mutual agreement of the parties. “The United States will communicate to Russia that Russian reciprocity is the key to achieving peace,” the statement said. Zelenskyy in his nightly televised address to Ukraine said, “Our position is absolutely clear: Ukraine has sought peace from the very first second of this war, and we want to do everything to achieve peace as quickly and reliably as possible — so that war never returns.” According to the joint statement issued by Ukraine and the U.S., the two delegations “also discussed the importance of humanitarian relief efforts as part of the peace process, particularly during the above-mentioned ceasefire, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of civilian detainees, and the return of forcibly transferred Ukrainian children,” the statement said. https://www.cnbc.com/2025/03/11/ukraine-agrees-to-us-led-ceasefire-plan-if-russia-accepts.html
I don't know that the next leader of the Russian Federation will be as bad or worse than Putin. Neither do you.
Uhhh are you always this naive? Do you really believe Russia has fair and free elections?? Russia is ruled by a very authoritarian regime. There will be a lot of infighting. This isn't the USA where we elect old.men with clear onset of dementia or place (not elect) incompetent DEI candidates on the ticket. Whoever replaces Putin will be very powerful and will rule very heavy handed to ensure someone like prigozin doesn't try to upsurp their authority. The only way you get a softer ruler is to hope Putin appoints one and ensures their authority holds.
I didn't say anything was "likely" if I wanted to say something was "likely" I would have used that word. I used "realistic" which is a entirely different word. Putin is 73 years old. It's realistic he could die during the pendency of this conflict. A lot of people would like to see him dead. but he does have access to lots of security and the best health services money can buy so I don't have reason to believe it's "likely."
You have no idea what is going to happen when Putin dies. You're talking out of your behind. Could a Putin appointee take power? Possible. Could there be a civil war amongst Oligarchs and one emerges? Possible. Could an opposition democratic movement emerge potentially financed or aided by the West? Possible. The scenarios are limitless. So don't act all arrogant like you "know" what's going to happen when Putin dies. Nobody does. Not you and not me. The whole government could fall into complete chaos which would cause the army to collapse and potentially the frontline and the Ukrainians could walk back into the occupied territories. You can say that's "far fetched" or "laughable" but that is essentially what happened in 1917 when Russia exited the first world war. The Monarchy collapsed, the will to continue the war collapsed, the front essentially disintegrated and the Germans dictated a favorable peace. Will this happen here? Probably not but it's not impossible.
I will be very curious to see if Putin agrees and wants to start negotiations that will be biggly favor the ruskies. trump will give away the farm and then claim what a great deal it is for all concerned
