The entire sample includes last season if one doesn't want a few bad games here or a few good games here to alter the results. I don't think Cam is at the age where his skills are declining. If you want to exclude last season, in ten games, pro-Cam people should be able to exclude the 1st 10 games and use the exact same sample size you are using to be honest. Either 41 games is a reasonable sample size or it isn't. I don't think the 1st 10 games of Cam's season is representative of his TS% as indicated by his career numbers. In 10 games, his TS% over his last 41 games at time will easily be better than his current last 41 games. I will say, I've been more impressed by his defense than offense since mid december. Sure, he still has some space cadet moments. I think he's cut them down some. I worry that the way he's being utilized will cause him to question what he needs to play and will undo his improvement.
I think I would be more inclined to "trust the process" with Cam if my read on him was that he was a coachable dude who wants to bust his ass to get better. As you said, you can split the stats a number of ways to make him look incredibly promising or kinda bad. The overall sample of his career is decent statistically, especially given his age. I guess my thing is--I don't like to see a down season from a guy whose body language is bad and where we have rumors flying around that he's not really buying in, and clear evidence (in the form of DNPs) that the coach thinks he has some issues to work on. I value character pretty highly when evaluating prospects, which is why I was such a big Amen booster leading up to the 23' draft. I'll freely admit that I could be wrong about this, and I hope I am, but I'm not sure if Cam has the personality/mindset to be a successful two-way star, and I'm not sure his player profile really works as anything else. I just have this gut feeling that he's a guy who ends up as one of those microwave sixth men that doesn't seem to make a big impact on winning but always puts up numbers.
At this stage I think the best thing he can do for us is to be a microwave scorer. If he can do that it would help us a lot.
Totally agree. There's a lot of making things up as to why Cam doesn't play more. This board does that with a lot of players. Cam with consistent minutes would look like a sixth man or possible starter but Ime is coaching him slowly. A lot of that probably has to do with not much room in the rotation and Ime trusting veterans.
I think Cam has some issues with Ime. Regarding lousy body language, I expect guys who don't play much to be unhappy. Regarding Cam's skills, the Rockets generally play very well with him and rotation players. He may be a bust, but teams rarely play well with guys as young as him. I just don't see a big drop off between the end of the rotation and Cam.
Any of you guys know the real scoop behind FVV? Why is he being held out for so damn long with that ankle injury? I’ve been following the Rockets as far back as I can remember, we’ve always had a suspected medical staff/ trainer.
Ya Mon. Fortunately, we're winning. SMH@Ime That said, 20 yr old Cam should eventually become a long time NBA stud. I hope it's with us.
Brutal that Cam can’t get minutes with Amen out. I don’t need any more evidence he’s in the doghouse.
