After 26 years and 28 albums, local Houston weirdo Jandek made his first ever live appearance in Glasgow, Scotland last Sunday at the Instal Festival (experimental/drone/psych/noise festival)..... he played guitar and sang. No one knew that he was playing the festival as it was never publicized. People took photographs of the set and this might have been the first time he's ever had his picture taken in public. The Jandek fan community is abuzz with discussion over this: From the definitive guide to Jandek ( http://tisue.net/jandek/ ) NEWS: It is now confirmed that Jandek played a live set at the Instal.04 festival in Glasgow on October 17. He sang and played guitar, joined by Richard Youngs on bass and Alexander Neilson on drums. The performance was not publicized beforehand or even identified as it happened, so many of the people in the room didn’t know until later whom they had seen and heard. Hey, my 4 year old was playing his songs on my guitar the other day. Upside down while eating a peanut butter sandwich. Although, I got to admit, my 4 year old handled the solos better. I think.
