@Rileydog thanks for your kind words and recognition of the special relationship I had with Talon. I coached him in sports from age 6-12, when I gave him over to more qualified tacticians.

We had our moments, in fact our last drive to IAH on 15 Oct we had a hard conversation, but we embraced and said we loved each other. I'll treasure that last hug until my final breath.

We were blessed with 3 other children (2 girls and a boy), as well as my daughter-in-law, 2 granddaughters, a new son-in-law and another son in-law coming soon! As parents, we not supposed to have favorites, but Talon was always daddy's boy. With so many blessings, I've been spoiled.

College time are great years, I was stationed in Europe and didn’t get many chances to visit him at Texas Tech. If you can spend some time with your two and take them and their friends out for dinner it's worth it.

His HS/College friends came from around the world to attend his celebration of life, I luckily knew them all and was thankful I did.

Thanks for honoring Tal with the civility check. I was somewhat hot headed when I was younger, but have learned that serves no ones interest, including mine.

    Cheers,
    Shark44

Man my heart goes out to you and you're family will be in my prayers. You raised a great son, which really isn't surprising because Talon has a great dad.

    Condolences

It's sad when anyone goes before their time, but this stings even more because Talon sounds like the kind of person the world could use more of. And we've lost a fellow Rockets believer. Next time I attend a Rockets game, I'll hoist one up in his honor.

My heart goes out to you, @Shark44, for the devastating loss of your son. I can't even imagine what you've been through, brother.

Truly sorry for your loss, and prayers to the family having to go through that.

A parent should never have to witness their child pass.

I appreciate all of CF and the admin for commemorating a truly special individual.

People in their 30s, 40s, 50s should get checked up on regular basis nowadays.

Terribly sorry to hear about your son, Shark.

I really appreciated you sharing things about your son. He sounded like a good man and I’m sure he cherished all the memories you shared together throughout his life.

Like you said, this place can be kinda of bad some times, but lean on it as an outlet. There’s always good people and good conversation to be had about our favorite team.

Sending positivity and love towards you and your family, brother.

Thank you for sharing your son's life, @Shark44. It is so special. I am honored to be part of this community you choose to share. Sometimes this place can be chaotic and even nasty. But it's a great community nontheless.

You and your family, especially your daughter-in-law and the two girls, are in my prayers. Can't imagine the pain.

Thanks @Easy. I wasn't sure about sharing this, but Talon truly loved Houston sports and this community. I'm extremely humbled by the response from all of the great posters here (like yourself) and know my son is smiling from heaven.

I’m spending a lot of time in DC these days. Mebbe we hook up for a hot cup…or a cold one.

Deepest condolences to you and your family @Shark44 I can't imagine what you're going through. Just a few years older than me so I'll definitely start getting regular check ups. May you heal from this!

@Clutch did his magic again and found Talon's original account...

"YES! There is an account called "Crazy Fool" in 2001 under texastal8@aol.com"

    https://bbs.clutchfans.net/members/crazy-fool.2860/

    https://bbs.clutchfans.net/search/169240578/

He would have been 14 then and we lived in VA when I was stationed at the Pentagon. Crazy to think we went from 9/11 to the invasion of Afghanistan to an invasion of Iraq, plus the DC Sniper which was two dudes randomly shooting folks from the trunk of their car. Those were the days!

I'll close this thread out by Thanking EVERYONE for your incredible support and encouragement. I'll always have a hole in my heart from his loss, but I'm grateful for the response this thread received--it means a lot to this ol' man. Salute my friends!

Shark - So sorry to hear the tragic news. I'm sending much love and sincere condolences...Your son sounds like quite a man, takes after his Dad. I appreciate you sharing so much of his life with us. We can all aspire to those lofty heights...and remember to lead with love. I hope you find peace in the coming days.
Y'all will be in my prayers.

Thanks @Plowman. Appreciate the kind words, but he was a better man than me and I've learned a lot from all of my children. Your phrase "remember to lead with love" is a powerful statement and if more did it our planet could be more like Heaven than Hell. Grateful for your thoughtful comments brother!
