The fact that he left under his own power is promising. Grade 2 he wouldn't have been able to. Probably just precaution. Amen wanted his triple double, Ime left him in. Just some freak injuries lately. Happens. ****ing annoying that Reed also gets injured so can't see either run the point in Fred's absence.

When it happened, I was saying why was he in the game. In hindsight I get it. One rebound from a triple double. Most of the time, players are left in the game to get the triple, so I understand.

These things can happen at any point in a game. Sure, I wish he had been taken out. But, it happened and now we move forward.

If it looks like Amen will miss significant time, I’m guessing the Rockets may try to sign a PG off the street. Not sure who may be available.

Going after Veteran sharpshooters is a huge need.

Seeing what Detroit did Malik Beasley and Tobias Harris.

One of the cardinal rules broken...for your YOUNG franchise player to be, that's been playing 40 minutes a night...in a 30 point blow out.
    Shame on you Ime.

No starter should ever be in the game if you're up 30+ in the 4th.

If he would have gotten the triple double and didn’t have a freak ACCIDENTAL ankle sprain nobody would bat an eye.

It’s sports dude. Accidental injuries happen all the time. Blame Ime if you want, but you better damn sure praise him when we make the playoffs after YEARS of bottom of the barrel gutter trash we’ve watched.

There's some context here that I think matters--Amen has been averaging 37.9mpg since becoming the starter on January 5th. If he were playing that much the entire season, it would be tied for #1 minutes per game in the entire NBA. (With, of course, Josh Hart and Mikal Bridges, both of whom play for the notorious-for-overplaying-his-starters Coach Thibs). He's also not accustomed to playing this kind of load, it's his second season in the league and he came off the bench most of his abbreviated rookie year.

Of all the starters he probably needed the break the most. IMO it was a bad coaching decision even if Amen hadn't gotten hurt.

    **** **** **** **** **** **** ****

I was so angry when I saw this happen. I really hope it isn't serious, but even still ankle injuries can linger if they don't heal properly.

dumb ass decisions, this is 100% on Ime. Have the ****in balls to tell your player that 'sorry young buck but look at the score I think your done for the night. I know you want it, but we still have a long season ahead.'

I hate this, He has been arguably one of our best players, he does so much different things for the team. It's hard to fill that gap.

    109-83 after three … IT’S OVER!
Fine, give benefit of the doubt in case Pelicans make a run.
    4th Q starting lineup: Amen—Holiday—Jabari—Sengun—Adams
    10 minute mark: 117-85
    9:22: reinserts Brooks for Adams
    8 minute mark: 122-91
7:44: reinserts Tari for Holiday; inserts Cam for Sengun
    6 minute mark: 129-94
6:00: inserts Nate for Brooks; inserts Jock for Tari
    5:50: Amen gets hurt
5:31: reinserts Holiday for Amen; inserts Tate for Jabari

Not just that he got hurt, he’s running the dude into the ground.
33 minutes in game they won by 29. (Sengun(32) was the only other guy to play over 30 minutes)

    33-39-40-41-30-34-37-40-30-41-41-37-37-40-37-41-38-31-42-41-36-40-41-35-41-36-41-41-32-39-31-38

Since 12/23 (starter), 37.5 minutes, sixth in NBA over that time.

Just can’t help himself playing him and Fred 41 minutes a game.
Congrats! Joke’s on you! Aaron Holiday is your only point guard now!

Ime's definitely not a perfect coach, but in my opinion he's still early in his Head Coaching tenure and he will improve by leaps and bounds if he gets the chance to. I totally agree with you in that he needs to grow--and I believe he will.

A young squad getting better together. A young coach becoming more savvy and experienced as we go along. I hope these Rockets can achieve something special together.

Udoka is a tiny too intense for me but precisely what this team needed after Silas but going forward the team might need someone or something else.

Let's wait out the MRI results.

The minutes being played doesn’t correlate to a freak accident where he landed on another player’s foot.

If he went down with a stress fracture or a stress induced injury I would agree with you 100%. Amen isn’t 40 years old.

There are some mistakes that GREAT coaches NEVER make, this is one of those types....it is flat out STUPID - there is no reason to have your starters in a game you are up 33 in the 4th...NONE..

    Two things:
    1) Had a freak injury not occurred then everyone today would be heaping praise on Udoka for letting Amen get his well deserved triple double.
    2) When Stone made no moves to get a star (or anyone for that matter) at the deadline, the Rockets made a conscious decision they were not a Finals contender this year. So why be upset if Amen is out and someone like Cam gets a shot to prove himself?

I would be the biggest hypocrite in the world if I criticized Ime’s move to add some fun to a blowout, as I was the first (when I used to be able to post threads) to criticize All-Stars for not playing hard in a meaningless game. Credit to Amen for playing hard when this game was no longer meaningful. No issues at all with that. Fans pay good money for 40 minutes of fun and something to talk about after the game (Amen’s triple double).

I mean it's not about the specific injury that much. My point isn't "it was a bad decision because Amen hurt". My point is "it was a bad decision regardless of whether he got hurt". The fact that he got hurt while he shouldn't have been out there is incidental but definitely makes it sting much more.
