Depends on how his next season goes, but at this rate I kinda doubt it! He's already probably close to being a max level player, if he gets just a little bit better it's pretty much guaranteed
I can’t think of a single facet of the game that u can confidently say Jalen Green is better than Booker at that’s a huge assumption for Amen unless his offense improves dramatically
I mean he's already a 16, 10, and 5 guy as a starter, with elite defense and high scoring efficiency--so pretty comparable to what Evan Mobley was when he signed his max contract during this past offseason The only reason his per-game numbers aren't quite there overall is because he spent almost half the season coming off the bench
In a losing effort in a game with zero defense on a team with Durant that is and most likely will be out of the playoffs. Love me a good run on sentence with no punctuation when making a point. The Rockets in my opinion need a bigger Alpha.
The Rockets have really good defenders like Amen Thompson, Tari Eason and either Fred VanVleet or Dillon Brooks they can put around Devin Booker, and they have a defensive minded head coach. The Suns only have Ryan Dunn, and he’s in Mike Budenholzer’s doghouse. Also, the Suns wouldn’t have even been in overtime if it wasn’t for Booker’s efficient scoring the last three quarters. Blaming him for not winning that game is ridiculous. Where is this better alpha that fits the young Rockets timeline coming from? Minnesota isn’t moving Edwards unless he asks out, the same is true of the Bucks and Giannis and the Pacers and Halliburton. Tyrese Maxey and Paolo Banchero aren’t better than Booker, and Luka Doncic isn’t leaving the Lakers. The Grizzlies aren’t trading Ja Morant or Jaren Jackson Jr to a division rival, and the Pistons aren’t trading Cade Cunningham. The only other realistic options besides Booker are Zion Williamson, who cannot stay healthy, and Trae Young if the Hawks embrace a complete rebuild.
I didn’t blame Booker for the Suns not winning the game last night. I’m saying the Suns have underperformed for a long ass time with both Durant and Booker being on it. Booker makes too much money for what he brings to the table. He probably should have been a better and more consistent player in th league. What’s the issue? Is it the Suns org being a dumpster fire? I don’t know, but he’s not worth what he makes. I don’t want Ja either. Dude isn’t the same player. I want dogs on both sides of the ball. Rockets fans have always had this thing for wanting shiny new toys from other teams. And yet, most of those toys haven’t shown that they can win. I’m not giving up this Suns picks and players for someone who won’t move the needle forward significantly. I like Booker the player, I don’t love what he brings at the cost.
If we trade for Booker, Jalen will likely be in the package. He won't be playing PG. And whoever thinks Jalen is better than Booker is crazy. And it's also pretty crazy that some people would say Booker is declining at the prime age of 28.
Booker is older and his game is more advanced than JG but JG at 23 is already on the same or better projection. da The problem is some fans lack patience for players to develop …we can’t continue to draft 19-20 year olds and then get mad and compare them to players 4-6 years older .. Booker has KD and Beal and look how well they are doing but you think coming here would result in better results …chemistry matters
You are projecting Green to be eventually better than Booker. That's a every debatable proposition. I'd say most people would agree that Booker is what we hope Jalen will become. I don't think a lot of people would argue that Booker is a top 10, let alone top 5 player. But believing that Jalen will be come a top 10 player also takes a lot of faith.
I never said JG would be a top 10 or 5 player - you are admitting that Booker isn’t a top 10 or 5 player either … so why would you trade a 23yr old who is still developing for a 28yr old who isn’t drastically better but way more expensive and can’t / hasn’t won with multiple stars surrounding him.
In the last 5 seasons Booker has scored less than 10 points 3 times (not counting one game he got injured 4 minutes in). Jalen has scored less than 10 seven times this season. There’s no comparison between the two at this point in their careers. Maybe Jalen will continue to improve and pass him but this “only slightly better” is not accurate. Booker balled at the Olympics and was the best player on a team that made the finals. This team needs late clock and late game shot creation and there’s unlikely going to be anyone better than Booker remotely attainable in the next year or two at those.
Booker is drastically better than Jalen even in a down year. Booker scores 26.0 ppg (#9) at .523 eFG%. Green scores 21.2 ppg (#32) at .509 eFG. Booker has 6.9 apg while Green has 3.2. I'd give you that Jalen still has potential to be as good as Booker one day, and that he's more expensive.
Booker is having a down year, but I still view him as a top 20 ish player. Green, while steadily improving, will probably max out as a top 30 ish guy realistically. I'd trade Green for Booker, but I'm still not sure Booker can be a legit #1 guy on a title team. So, while we improve at the position, we still might have the same issue of identifying who our #1 option is (hopefully Sengun).
The Rockets will probably try and get him - because they want star players. However - as Morey has learned, not all star players are equal ... there are stars and there are STARS. Personally I would pass on him.
Booker is only 5 years older than Green, it's not as if we would be giving up a decade. The gulf between the 2 is still substantial because Green's overall offensive efficiency still hasn't taken a step forward even with the slight improvement from 3. I would prefer an even more elite player than him, but unless you are the Lakers those players virtually never become available. The rate at which Amen Thompson keeps improving, we may have a top ten level player on the team already in a year or 2.
