Don't really know what the big deal is even if Castle continues on, Reed has flashed his potential. His injury sucks but he has given us something to look forward to. Nah, IMO Castle has just been given more opportunity + Reed may just be a later bloomer. I'm convinced if Reed was given more minutes he'd show off way more. That shot is pure (better than Castle), his defensive instincts excellent (better than Castle), and he is sneaky athletic.
Castle is just better and he can't shoot. That was supposed to be Reed's specialty and he has been terrible. I get his minutes have been low and inconsistent he looks scared out there.
CP3 had the same thumb injury 3 years ago(ironically vs the Rockets) when he was with the Suns and missed 15 games(over roughly 5 weeks of the season). Given that the Rockets have 19 games left and the playoffs don't start til exactly 6 weeks from today, Reed's season isn't necessarily over. And CP3 reportedly didn't get surgery on his thumb. He just rehabbed it and still managed to get back pretty quickly.
It doesn't matter as far as the playoffs are concerned. No way Ime plays Reed in a playoff game unless we were absolutely getting blown out.
Sadly you might be right. That rotation is gonna get even tighter come playoff time. But at least he'd theoretically be available if he could recover within 6 weeks. Given how fragile Fred is suddenly looking, it doesn't hurt to have a healthy Reed on the roster.
Yes, I would've loved to see him play out the season taking all of Holiday's minutes. If he played great, Ime might be tempted to give him a few minutes in the playoffs, but I doubt it. Off subject, but this would be a great time for Ime to experiment with an Amen, Jalen, Jabari, Tari, Sengun lineup.
Castle is allowed to fu*k up and Reed isnt. When Reed is allowed free reign to do whatever then he shockingly looked way better than Castle.
Fact of the matter is that he ha free reign because he's just is better. We need shooting and when he gets on the floor he's terrified.
Ime would be dumb af to play Reed in a playoff game after seeing that open field defense that he plays or doesn't play.
