I guess we saw different things then. That 3rd quarter was a work of art. Udoka has frustrated me too but he was a maestro with his adjustments in 3rd. Rockets do not dominate Q3 or even win game without the Triple Big lineup. This lineup also very productive vs Mavs + Pacers.
The real question we have to ask is: how come 1.5 seasons into his tenure we're ecstatic to beat one of the worst teams in the NBA?
Jalen sh0uld have kept his attempts l0w like in the 1st half-- just playmake - play defence, 0nly carry the 0ffensive l0ad when teammates cant
th0se heaves and end of shot clock 3s are killing his schtatischtics-- which jaters l0ve t0 gl0at 0n --n0t that it matters.......... -- seeing h0w he is impr0ving at all aspects in a very fast rate is abs0lutely suprising f0r the maj0rity 0r 0thers arrent even l00king past the jate --he sh0uld just pace himself-- t0 get healthy en0ugh f0r the play0ffs
I think people forget just how lacking in talent those Silas years were .... Silas offense generated an insane amount of open / wide open looks that the players simply bricked. Jalen was shooting south of 27% on those open / wide open looks and was literally the worst player in the league according to the VORP stat & 538's RAPTOR, possibly the league's worst defender that season. KPJ was his point guard (Stone). It's really hard to say what kind of coach Silas was with the talent on that roster, the offense did have potential ....
they had a article on Silas offense and the quality shots / open looks it created but I can’t find it for the life of me. if JG shot open 3s then like he does now… we win a few more games but that’s player development and growth and why we can’t be so quick to judge
This is why I want JG to become better at drawing fouls - he will never reach SGA or Harden levels but it does help on off shooting nights
Every time I talk about making Jalen a 6th man or just in general put him lower on the pecking order, and put more focus on getting Reed or Amen or Cam more reps, I get responses talking about how I am an idiot for not believing he's gonna be a future star. In the end all the people who love Jalen compare him to stars. So for better or worse, if you don't think he's the next Booker or Ant, you get labeled a hater.
Very few people here believe Jalen is going to be a star. It's pretty obvious to most of us. But the Rockets don't have a player capable of filling the SG role as well as Jalen. Amen may get there and become a better scorer than Jalen, but it definitely ain't now. IMO, it ludicrous to even think Cam or Reed can fill that role now. There is a non-zero chance Cam will develop into a legit starting SG in the NBA, but don't hold your breath. A person is not an idiot for having doubts about future stardom for Jalen, but it's idiotic to think anyone else currently on the roster can fill the position better than him this season.
100% agreed. Even though JG's numbers are not equal to Booker's and they technically play the same position, their roles are much different. JG is playing an offense centered around Sengun, Booker plays in an open free flowing offense. I think if JG played in a free flowing offense his numbers, FG%, ASSIST, would be higher.
Why do you care about this season though? The Rockets front office already raised the white flag on this season. The Rockets are clearly trying to build a future winner, not a present winner. Both Reed and Cam have the skillsets necessary to take on Jalen's role to a certain extent. And Amen clearly should be priority #1 in the Rockets developmental que. If the Rockets lose a couple of more games because Jalen is playing 24mpg instead of 34mpg, with Reed and/or Cam taking some of that time, it's not going to change the trajectory of this season.
