I don't get it. I would love to have Xavier Restrepo on the team, but the Texans just traded for Christian Kirk to play the slot and pay Christian a ton of money. There's lot's of other players the Texans love that would make much better sense at other positions of need.

I like the way you think. But Jarret Patterson is going to be a good center. I'd like to see LT Tunsil, LG Zabel, C Patterson, RG Howard, RT Fisher.

I see a lot of people wanting Nick E., but when you watch his tape, he's just not as technically sound as Malaki Starks. Honestly, I'm probably in the minority, but I'd be pretty bummed if we took him in the 1st, especially if certain other guys were on the board. He's gonna be great on Madden with his size/speed ratio, but he takes bad angles in the pass and run game, and can be a little bone-headed at times.

As for Safeties, I'd much rather Malaki Starks (if available) or Xavier Watts (2-time All-American).

If we have both Zabel and Ratledge and Patterson can hold down OC, Then how about:

LT Tunsil, LG Ratledge, OC Patterson, RG Zabel, RT Fisher with either CJ or a guard calling assignments. I think a problem last year was getting the OL assignments called. We also need cheaper OL as we start paying our superstars.

Collins, Kirk and Bech sounds like a law firm.

I'd love Zabel, but would be hesitant to have 2 rookies at G. Would rather sign Kevin Zeitler https://www.si.com/nfl/texans/news/houston-texans-perfect-match-free-agency-revealed-kevin-zeitler

The Z boys could fix our interior line and Zeitler would bring a new veteran voice/experience into the OL. He's at best probably a 2-year solution, but maybe Juice can be developed to replace him. Thoughts?

I don't think I have Nick's ear, so I'm perfectly willing to wait and see what he decides. I backed off Zeitler when I saw the estimated cost and gave credence to scouts who said both Zabel and Ratledge would be day 1 starters. But what do I know? I just want it to work. And I was hoping we would have a stable core for more than a minute.

I actually had a draft where we picked up Zabel and Jackson at 31 and 32 so we had a 5th year option on each. I think we will rely on the draft going forward because we've pushed and are pushing money into the future with restructures. We'll need the draft bargains to keep the team competitive.

I'm more of sign a vet (James Daniels or Becton are my guys) then draft an IOL. (Zabel, Jackson are my guys) this will create competition on the IOL. I see Zabel as a 10 yr starting C and letting Patterson/Scruggs fighting it out for the LG spot.

I'm looking for an attitude shift in OL room and believe Zeitler could be that guy, as well as balanced skills in run and pass blocking.

I also like Starks better, but he’s always the first safety taken, usually around picks 9 to 15. I can understand how some might be bummed with Nick E. at 25 as I can picture him being highly sought after only to become average in the NFL. As for Xavier Watts, I’m not too familiar with him, so I’ll read up on him some more. If you know of a good video on him that isn’t just fluff and highlights, please share.

I’m new to learning about so many players at once in a short time, so my picks might be biased based on when I last read up on them.

I'm all on board with this and signing Zeitler/drafting Zabel would definitely improve what you're talking about. I do worry about Zeitler's age. They certainly dont need a repeat of the Shaq Mason situation. Older guy hanging on for one last paycheck.

Watts would be a great fit next to Bullock. So would Mukuba, if they pick a S in the 1st 3 rds then I would hope that S could also play in the slot if needed. All 3 of the top S can do this.

Keep pushing that money forward for the next 10 years and then rebuild.

I like the Brown pick (don't think he makes it to 7th).

I would love Thornton & Eli as UDFAs. I don't think there is anyway Thornton does not get drafted ( I have been wrong before)
