They all cant shoot or provide spacing. Zion can shoot 3s but you are wasting him by parking him at the 3 pt line. Amen can be seen as a healthy and hard working Zion, they are very similar players except Zion is more of a scorer and Amen can both score and playmake. If we end up getting Zion Sengun should get traded for assets ans Jabari becomes the center.
Funny how its all Quiet on the Western Front about necessity for spacing and 3P% when the Triple Big lineup is unveiled. REB dominance cures all in Ime offense. And Zion is better rebounder than anyone on Rockets not named Alp or Amen.
Like I mentioned in the game thread, Rockets were winning games while being one of the worst shooting teams in the NBA. The Rockets crew would always rightly say that missing shots were kind of part of the offense because you would get the rebound any way and get an easier shot. I think a front court of Sengun, Zion, and Jabari would easily be the best rebounding team in the league.
Hardly a gamble if you can get him for free and don't have to attach your biggest assets. And structure his contract (front load) and for 2 years. The issue with Zion is that if he doesn't work out, you can cut ties as quickly as possible.
You're not thinking it through enough. REB dominance can be accomplished while adding elite 3P shooting + making bench unit unstoppable. Alp-Naz-Zion-Amen-Cam Johnson/Tari as starting unit provides the REB dominance AND elite shooting AND lockdown defense. Jalen-Reed-Stevo/Rob Williams-Tari off the bench would be microwave scoring that opposing teams 2nd units could not keep up with. Trade Dillon + Jabari + picks for Zion. Whitmore + FRP for Cam Johnson. Sign Naz Reid in offseason or facilitate PHX trade of KD to MIN with Naz ending up in HOU. And both Amen + Zion have very different offensive roles - Amen is dunker/cutter + elite defensive specialist with playmaking ability while Zion is near elite perimeter creator + scorer with playmaking ability. Both are also elite rebounders for non-centers.
There’s no way you give a 4 year max to a guy who has played in less than 1/2 his eligible games due to injury. We already suffered through the Tracy/Yao era saying ‘if only they were healthy…’
Anyone who watched game tonight could see how unstoppable Zion was on the boards, his 1st + 2nd jump is like Amen's - superhuman. Having 2 guys like that on same team + Alp takes REB dominance to beyond even historic levels.
We dont have money for all that. Alpi makes 38, Zion makes the max and Amen is prob also gonna make the max. Jalen is making 33M, Adams/Rob makes 25M Tari will also make 25M. You already in lux tax still dont have a starting pg.
Then another one of those core guys have to go eventually (not next season) because Udoka is not going anywhere soon so we need players with the skillsets to maximize his system. Rockets winning a championship is the ultimate goal.
That lineup isnt even a guarantee to win a ring. Udoka likes players who play a lot of minutes and he will be the type to get on Zion and his fat ass so I dunno why you think Zion is an Udoka guy. Udoka will olay Zion 40 mins, Zion will pull a hammy and then Udoka will get on him for being fat and out of shape and then Zion will demand a trade.
His ability to produce when he is healthy was never a question. Look at his health record the past 5 yrs.
It only says he must stay under a certain weight. Being underweight doesnt mean Zion wont get injured. He has been injured every year of his career no matter what his weight is. You cant cut his contract if he plays and tears something like AD or Kyrie.. This happened to Zion too he played in the playoffs and tore something in the first round. Dude is a massive health risk no matter his weight.
Bari has already said he doesn't like to do the dirty work. He can guard 3-5. Put him at 3 and go with Sengun/Adams. At least this way when you have a team that cant shoot, you'll have a team that can rebound the misses. Bring Tari/Brooks off of the bench. Bari is this Rockets generation of Horry. We dont know if he's Big Shot Bob though.
