I always like listening Adams giving serious takes. He will be a good analyst after he retires. And he can be funny without trying. In another interview by Vanessa right after the game, Sengun said that having Adams actually gave him space to work down low. That's an interesting angle I'd never thought about. You'd think that with a non-shooter like Adams next to you, you'd have spacing problem. But the defense was so worried about Adams's offensive rebounding, they had to put a body on him at all time. And that freed up the space under the basket.
Jabari/Sengun/Adams is just such a monster rebounding unit. Put them out there with Amen too and ye gods. Also the shotblocking by committee is pretty great with that group, a block per game from each of them. Teams can pack the paint, sure, but they'll still struggle to get any rebounds or stop somebody from getting an easy look around the basket. Only issue is that group probably struggles defensively against teams that can play 5 out.
The problem is the unit that works the best is a unit that you can't play more than 10 minutes per game. It's not a sustainable solution, you can throw them together for few minutes to confuse opponents and add some physicality in the mix but that's about it. The Rockets need a real solution.
IMO the real solution is to get a 3nD PF/C who can play next to Sengun. Maybe Jabari will evolve into that guy. But I'd pay just about any price to get JJJ if they're even considering trading him before he gets that supermax extension. Two other guys up for extensions soon are Naz Reid and Rui Hachimura. We've gotta stop teams from packing the paint in a sustainable way, and that means adding shooting. PF is the obvious starting spot to seek an upgrade since Dillon is shooting it well, Tari is doing okay behind him. But again, maybe they just assume Jabari is going to get a lot better.
Or add players in the offseason that provide similar rebounding dominance while maintaining the switchability critical to Ime's system and addressing Rockets offensive issues. A player like Naz Reid for example. In the interim, Udoka has shake up the rotation because his preferred starting 5 is not effective + requires extraordinary effort to just become competitive in 2nd half. This is happening even vs the worst teams in NBA. Jalen + Alp have to be even more staggered because his defense is not good enough to compensate when his shot goes cold and vice versa. The eye test confirms the analytics, Jalen is the least effective of the starting 5 as it impacts winning. While Fred is out + Jalen appears to be nicked up, change up the starting 5 so Rockets can be at its competitive in the beginning of games. On another note, Rockets most potent offense is when Jalen is paired with Cam-Reed-Stevo.
The fit concerns were always overblown. Just as they would be if Zion were acquired. High IQ players who are also adept playmakers with versatile skillsets always figure it out, e.g. Harden + CP3. And both Amen + Alp (also Tari) are near perfect fits in system that Udoka has implemented. REB, defense to offense, FTA, transition defense, switchability, etc. Zion would fit in too. But so would other players like JJJ or AD.
Considering I critiqued multiple Rockets last night including Jabari and Amen I would say this is fake news and a very weak attempt at a clap back. But what I do know is you hate Jalen and what I do know is your extreme emotional attachment to Sengun by your reaction to valid criticism.
LOL - My favorite player is Amen on this current iteration of the Rockets . There are certainly "jaters" on this forum but those posters have as much credibility as the Sengun KKKers who blame him for all the plagues on earth. I find myself defending him of the most preposterous posts due to sheer annoyance of the disinformation being spread. If there is any of the young core that I have lost some faith in, it is Jabari. I still believe that Jalen will be a good player, possibly an All Star but I have just recently questioned his role + efficiency so now I'm a Jalen hater. That is as ridiculous as all your tirades + tantrums towards other posters who pose different opinions to yours.
Sengun wasn’t even the best player last night as Tari’s defense, timely 3’s and aggressiveness all game was a major part of that win. Lmao
This is how I know you don’t know what you’re watching. more fake news. The first game they played on that video on the left Turner gave a downscreen freeing their guard which Sengun switched to cover. They ran the same action on the other side with Haliburton coming to down screen Turner. The ball rotated back to Haliburton on perimeter and he skipped passed it to the guard. FVV missed coverage and luckily they missed that wide open shot. On the video on the right they were running simple high screen and rolls top of key and wings. Rockets didn’t blitz at all lol not sure why video said blitz These videos show completely different actions lmao. Rockets have had weak high screen and roll defense all year. They got bailed out by good help D from Bari or Amen most of the time.
Then take your ass somewhere else and annoy those haters. Go back and read my posts. But this explains your sensitivity to Amen then. My bad
The Timberwolves aren’t going to let Naz Reid walk. They traded Towns to get under the second apron to free up more minutes for Reid. I also don’t see the Lakers letting Hachimura go. Brook Lopez, however, is a free agent this summer and the Rockets had interest in him when they signed VanVleet and Brooks. He could be a floor-spacing, shot blocking center that enables Sengun to operate as a power forward.
Posts like this are exactly why people don't take you seriously dude. 3 of Tari's made 3-pointers were wide open shots assisted by Sengun.
