It wasn't about this year. Fox has an extension upcoming and already decided where he wanted to play long term. He also didn't want to waste time finishing this season with the Kings. It'll be "congrats" to Fox when the the Spurs extend him. That's usually more important to players in their prime than winning a few more games.
Sorry to say this, but when high value players approach free agency and want to leave their current team, they have maximum leverage and often use it.

I would assume his decision is more long term focused, not just this season. If it were my choice I would also rather team up with Wemby than continue with the Kings.

I can’t blame Fox when I’d be doing the same exact sh*t if I was a player

teams don’t show loyalty to players, I’d be looking out for me and my career 1st and foremost

hell yeah I’m blowing up trade talks and trying to force my way to where I want to go…hell yeah I got a list of select teams or only 1 team…y’all not about to send me to Charlotte or Chicago

    Why does it annoy you?

It's actually more efficient/better for both teams for the player to leave in a trade vs free agency. That's a big part of the reason it happens. The Kings received something in return rather than losing Fox in free agency.
