The second is May 16 in Arlington, the second of a four-game series between the Astros and Rangers with first pitch at 7 p.m. The Astros have two other games, May 18 at Texas and Aug. 3 at Boston, that will be streaming exclusives on Roku, which has a package of Sunday afternoon MLB games. The Roku games, however, do not require a paid subscription to watch.
People here act like Meyers is a AAAA player at best but even in an underwhelming season he posted a +.300 xwOBA with elite CF defense. That kind of **** doesn't grow on trees especially when we are talking about a guy getting paid $2.3M this season. Being pushed to a corner OF spot, McCormick needs to produce at the plate sooner than later.
Meyers isn't an everyday CF on a championship level team. He's a good 4th OF. Now he would be a decent starter on the White Sox/Marlins/Pirates etc...
I think Meyers is gonna have a good season. He’s not the smartest hitter but I bet he gets a little more selective and yanks a few more into the crawford boxes. I’m hoping Chas can also do that. Chas can go opposite field but I want to see him pull it more. home runs are good
I think both realize that they are close to out of rope. For whatever reason, the Astros do not believe in Chas' ability to start regularly in CF so that rope is a bit shorter for him. By the deadline, he could easily find himself behind Dezenzo, Gamel, Leon, Melton, Smith, Corona, Hamilton or any number of trade candidates. Meyers does not need to outplay nearly as many. But based on money, control, younger options, and sheer underwhelming play 2021-2024, the pressure is on.
The term is "second division starter". A player who would start on the teams in the bottom half of the standings (16-30). First division starter is a player who legitimately starts on a playoff contender.
Unless McCormick comes around this Spring this may be a good time to option him to AAA and wait for someone to come looking for an outfielder.
Good add. Decent 6th or 7th inning arm. Was very consistently good for the Rays and can give 2 innings pretty often. Lefty. I prefer him to Okert although I like King and Sousa more.
I think Chas is done here. I thought the Astros would give him April to prove himself again but maybe it’s have a good ST or bust.
