Kirk is a slot guy we still need an outside receiver, I'm expecting a receiver with one of the first two picks. Egbuka or Tetairoa McMillan would be fantastic.
Nah still hoping for Emeka Egbuka or Jayden Higgins. We’re going to be looking for a new WR2 every year on the path we’re going.

Fast-forward a few years to Tutu Atwell landing a one-year, $10 million deal with the Rams, and suddenly Kirk's scheduled $16.5 million in cash -- which was apparently too rich for the Jaguars since they were preparing to release him -- looks like kind of a bargain? Kirk's value is depressed because of injuries -- including a collarbone injury that cut his 2024 season short -- which have limited him to 19 games over the past two seasons. But his per-route numbers are solid. Over the past two seasons, he's averaging 2.1 yards per route run and 2.4 against man, which ranks 23rd and 19th, respectively, among wide receivers with at least 500 routes run in that span. Not bad! Over the past two years combined he has a 65 open score in our receiver tracking metrics (good), though poor catch and YAC scores (29 each). Houston had a real need at wide receiver with Stefon Diggs becoming a free agent and Tank Dell recovering from a serious knee injury that just required another surgery. Kirk played mostly in the slot in Jacksonville, but that's just fine working alongside Nico Collins (Diggs played from the slot 43% of the time last season). Meanwhile, the Jaguars must hang on to Gabe Davis and his $11.5 million in guaranteed money this season, but he's a downgrade as a WR2 behind Brian Thomas Jr. It might seem odd to give praise to Houston, as it dealt a pick for a player who was about to be cut. Kirk can make up to $16.5 million in the final year of his contract, which is a perfectly reasonable amount for a second receiver. After the Rams rewarded Tutu Atwell earlier in the day with a one-year, $10 million contract, it can be reasonably expected Kirk would have drawn something comparable to his original terms on the open market. And really, he may have drawn a deal with guaranteed money into the second year. Kirk’s injuries are a concern, but he’s still in his prime. If he’s healthy, this will wind up being a solid acquisition for Houston. The Texans should still be in the receiver market after this, though. Jaguars trade grade: It’s something… Sure, it’s nice to recoup a pick for a player who was going to be released. It’s essentially free money. This one comes with more risk, though, as the Texans wrestled away the AFC South from the Jaguars over the past two seasons. It’s curious for the Jaguars to send a good player to the team they’re chasing when the late-round future draft compensation won’t pay dividends for at least a couple of seasons, if at all. (Or, the pick could give the Jags an extra trade chip to move up the board next month.) Maybe Kirk would have wound up with the Texans after his release anyway. Maybe he would have even signed for less money than he’s owed on the balance of his current deal, meaning they could have saved the cap space by holding onto their pick. And maybe the Jaguars aren’t set up to make a run at the division title in 2025 either way. But if Kirk becomes an AFC South nemesis or even burns the Jags a few times in 2025, this one could sting in Jacksonville.
He is more productive than Schultz though, at least. We have more priority to fill in FA anyway, so yeah pass for me.
Generally these kind of acquisitions underperform majorly due to injuries and bad attitudes... I'm not asking for much.. Just a measly 100/1200/7 line will do ..
