Trump wants Republicans to 'get rid of' the CHIPS Act.

The CHIP Act has been one of Bidenomics's successful accomplishments, paving the way for state-of-the-art chip mfg foundries in the USA.
3 such foundries are under construction in Arizona. This has/will create high-paying mfg jobs in the USA

Trump specifically criticized the subsidies, attendant to the CHIP Act, saying that he prefers to bring chip manufacturing to America via tariffs :oops::oops::oops::oops::rolleyes::rolleyes: .
This captures the essence of the willful ignoranus

Stupidity is doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome.

Trump 1.0 enacted tariffs, it was a failure.

    • did not lead to more mfg jobs in the USA

Congressional Republicans 'don’t see a huge appetite' for Trump's push to repeal the CHIPS Act

Republican senators who supported the legislation were caught by surprise by Trump’s remarks during his Tuesday address.

Sen Todd Young, R-Ind., said Wednesday that they conflicted with assurances he was given by Trump’s Cabinet nominees in an effort to secure his vote for their confirmation.

“I have to admit, I was surprised,” Young, the lead Republican on the legislation, told reporters. “His comments seemed in tension with the reassurances I had received privately and publicly
from his now-Cabinet [members], reassurances which I sought in order to be supportive of certain nominees.”

indications are that this attempt by Trump will follow as the fate as his previous attempt to repeal ObamaCare

I expect he will be as successful with this as he was with repealing Obamacare. I’m sure Trump will roll out a wonderful chips plan after infrastructure week.

I bet he's going to do the same thing he did with NAFTA/USMCA and just replace it with essentially the same exact thing with a different name so he can claim that he did something.

I think the new one should be called 'Scientific Onshoring and Diversification Act (SODA)'.

ChatGPT is a really good at coming up with backronyms. There goes another job that AI is going to replace!

Also, I think it's a sign that I am getting old. I used to think Seinfeld was unfunny. Now it's absolutely hilarious.
