Beats someone like WSH or NE using their cap space to sign him outright. Moving down 3 spots in the 2nd ain't the end of the world to secure a player who solidifies our IDL. We have seen what guys like Fatukasi and Edwards Jr. can do with the pressure from the outside by Area 51 & Hunter. That being said, I could also see signing him when / if he gets cut.
Because of the cap I would sign Moore and Robinson in FA. Then draft a burner like Thorton in rd 5 or so.
Totally agree with this. I'm not even on board with bringing in Kupp. Bring in Demarcus Robinson and Kirk or Elijah Moore both for what an injury prone Kupp will cost and you dont have to spend draft capital.
My mistake. I didn’t read the entire post. I stopped at trading for him. WSH is not re-signing him if they’re trying to trade him though
Seahawks could say they want a million first round draft picks. It doesn't matter. The market and the talent sets the value, and Metcalf isn't worth anything close to a 1st and a 3rd. I would be interested in bringing him in for a 3rd or (maybe) a 2nd, as long as Seattle eats some of the salary. I also don't want to be the team that pays him $30 million+ a year the next few years after this. That's way more than Nico got, and Metcalf isn't on Nico's level anymore. Personally, I'd rather add one of the cheaper veterans in the market, like Christian Kirk, and then draft a guy in the 2nd or 3rd round.
Don't want Robinson, seems to be a knucklehead and didn't take advantage of good coverage matchups when Puka and Kupp were active. If we can't get Davante, I'd be on board for Nick Westbrook-Ikhine
Looks like 2 receivers in the draft is going to be the better option. The cap increasing emboldens teams to pay$ 3-5 million more.
No to DK. He has elite physical traits but doesn't dominate. I'd rather have guys that make the most out of their talent not less. Give me Davante Adams
[Schefter] 49ers have informed defensive tackle Javon Hargrave that he will be released on the first day of the league year next week, per source. Hargrave will be a free agent.
It's always about the value. You can pay the undisputed best player too much because his contract hurts the rest of the team more than it helps.
