She can't read or write , but she's got personality! That is the basis of DEI- overlook lack of competence or ability and give people promotions, scholarships, leadership positions based on characteristics that have nothing to do with the task at hand. in this case, being a brown girl was more important than reading or writing.

The pipeline of Claudine Gays and Nico Harrisons to lord over competent people who don't check the right boxes is rejected by both sides , rightfully so , but liberal institutions and those seeking to gain favor with them will keep pushing them through.

Are opponents of DEI actually capable of spotting an incompetent/ nepotism hire when the undeserving recipient is white ?

Or are we only capable of finding women and minorities that are not great at their jobs ?

Serious questions. Do you think that the most qualified person should get the job regardless of Race, Gender, Orientation, or social class?

Do you approve of buildings having wheel chair access?

How about crosswalks making sounds for deaf people so they know when to cross?

Do you agree with the idea of providing different instruction for different learners to give them the tools to increase their education, intelligence, and contribution to society?

Do you agree with the idea that everyone is not on equal footing in life?

IF you agreed with any of these questions, you support DEI is some form.

Also, not all scholarships are academic. I have twin daughters, the one with the best grades, SAT/ACT score did not get the full ride scholarship to the same school as my other daughter. The scholarship was given for other aspects of her resume. Those aspects were chosen by the people who provide the funds for the scholarship. The university did not have control over who was offered the scholarship, the people creating the scholarship did.
