Getting to and catching balls will not be an issue and in fact for at least this season and probably next season he will likely be above average in those skills. It’s only throwing that he will struggle with, which will only matter on 5-10 plays over the course of the entire season.

Be crazy if Altuve ends up being so good he wins a Gold Glove out there.

It was encouraging that he gathered himself to strike out the final batter to limit the damage. Something that in previous years he did not do.

First base is where new Astros go to die.

    Noted.
He'll Hader got smashed the other day.
Spring yearning is very open to interpretation.

I think Whitley will be fine if healthy.
6th or 7th inning for him?
    Long reliever for mop up?

I think Altuve's speed will create more outs than Alvarez would be able to. So I'm not worried too much.

Running a dink and dunk defense this season. Altuve is a game manager in the outfield. Handoffs to Meyers and screens to Peńa.

    Agreed.

The thing about Altuve is that he's really good at baseball.

It’s not as simple as his splits.

I heard he hurt his back when he reached out to shake McCullers hand… Lance sprained his elbow and now both are going back to Houston for tests.

Although they are pretty thin for the moment with their position players, the pitching staff between both starters and relievers looks deep as hell.

You know who else was a weaking throwing LF'er with an above 900 OPS? Barry Bonds. I can live with that.

    https://www.fangraphs.com/depthcharts.aspx?position=DH

Updated Astros positional rankings with depth charts updated to reflect Altuve’s move to LF:

    C 11th
    1B 6th
    2B 16th
    SS 18th
    3B 5th
    LF 4th
    CF 21st
    RF 19th
    DH 2nd
    SP 15th
    RP 13th

I think there’s a lot more upside than downside in those SP and RP rankings. I’m glad to see Houston projects to be league average at 2B using mostly Brendan Rodgers. I’m surprised they are that low at C and would expect more upside than downside there as well. Adding Arenado or having a prospect (Smith, Dezenzo, Melton, Matthews, Whitcomb) break out would help a lot. This team would be utterly ****ed without Yordan and Framber.
