I deal with the IRS on a regular basis. It can take months and even over a year for some things to get corrected because they are already overloaded.
Poor and middle class working people would be the only ones getting audited. That's why. Wage workers, salaried employees etc who have little investments and no businesses under their name are easier to audit with automation and doesn't require career auditors combing through their tax filings with due diligence that requires time and effort. When you decrease the IRS workforce you are only making it easier for the wealth hoarders to avoid taxes and the laborers keep on having to be accurate with their filings and pay every drop they owe

I mean id much rather be the person you posted here because they most likely don't have fatty liver disease from alcohol abuse. She probably doesn't have high blood pressure issues also. I think a lot of angst and "owning the libs" sentiment stems from resentment of turning into a blob of fatty liver disease and high blood pressure with a thumb looking face. You see male action heros all your life and you end up 40 years old with a beer guy and your doctor saying if you keep on drinking your liver has to be replaced. I think a lot of the MAGA internal hatred of themselves stems from the disconnect between the lives they live and the action movie stars they've been brainwashed to idolize.
The Trump administration is doing a lot of things that conventional experts feel is really stupid or backwards. The pushing of Ukraine starting the war. The complete gutting of the government with no oversight. A budget that calls for an INCREASE in spending by massive tax cuts for the ultra-wealthy - but also cutting benefits for the poor and working class while increasing overall spending ratio. An increase in military spending and interfering hostilely in foreign relations while claiming that the administration doesn't want wars. Getting involved in a Global Trade War with massive tariffs. I will give the Trump administration credit for not doing the standard quo and sticking their collective elective necks out there. I do think that a lot of concern is justified, and no one knows for sure what the fall out will be good or bad for certain.
