I’ve been a big proponent of getting Naz Reid, but not by moving Jabari. Jabari, unlike Naz, can play the 3. He is also a much better defensive player that Naz and a better rebounder. A Naz, Sengun, Jabari front line would be pretty sick. Naz and Jabari can both shoot 3’s.
Big fan of Naz Reid but he took a few seasons to reshape his body from 264 to 230, as well as his game, now a stretch 4 instead of a traditional 5. And Naz will always have more natural guard skills (handling + passing) than Jabari but Jabari is better rebounder + switch defender.
I agree with this assessment. Let’s go get him and keep Jabari. Ain’t nobody scoring on Amen, Jalen, Jabari, Naz, and Sengun and we will absolutely dominate on the boards and transition.
I can see Jabari at the 3 but do not think that will be his best position especially when he fills out. Tari would make a much more optimal 3 to pair with Naz + Alp imo. Tari is as good a rebounder as Jabari, similar 3P% but he's the much more dynamic defender + transition player. Tari issue is his health + TOV.
Jabari doesn't SUCK. He is a rhythm player, he has to START. Taking him in and out of the starting lineup does not benefit him. And especially coming off the bench playing center, pf, etc is not him, that's Amen.
I agree that with this current cast of players, Jabrari needs to start as Amen and Tari are too short for the PF spot. I may not be a huge fan of Jabrari, but would rather have him than small ball any day of the week.
Jabari is better than Horry. Hard to match Horry's clutch gene though. Bob wasn't in the league yet at Jabaris age.
He also can't create his own shot outside of a middy face or turnaround pull up. He has NO counters if defenders close space on his right side shooting hand. He can't put the ball on the floor to go left or right. He has no bag of pumps, hesis, jab steps, rips, nada... Those limitations constrain him to be and remain a role player.
I don’t understand how guys like this make it to the NBA, let alone be a top 3 pick. NBA scouts are lazy. Stone didn’t do his due diligence, he just went with whoever the media told him to pick like every other draft. Not a good gm
To be fair to Stone, Jabari wasn't his original choice. It's like going to a double blind date and getting stuck with the lesser pretty girl vs the hotter one because your friend called dibs faster than you
Tari outrebounded + outscored Jabari tonight. And this is far from the first time he's outplayed Jabari, remember their rookie seasons + last season priority to Tari's season ending injury? And Amen regularly outrebounds + outperforms Jabari on nightly basis. Amen is easily the better rim protector as well. Height is far from be all and end all in determining talent.
Blasphemy. And entirely untrue. Age has nothing to do with impact. Horry's 2nd + 3rd seasons he was helping Rockets to consecutive championships.
Agreed but remember we didn't bring in Jabari for a workout. He was a consensus pick which Stone has done each year with his lottery picks. We did workout Amen and Reed, Amen has been a massive hit and Reed despite slow start is showing potential. Lesson to GMs, FORCE PLAYERS TO COME IN FOR WORKOUTS! In the end I think Stone got cute, trying to trick Magic or he got played. Either is a bad look.
Yes, Horry definitely did that. But he also averaged 7 points for his career. I would definitely want Horry taking that last minute shot. I hope Jabari gets that opportunity a few times.
Kinda the thing. Cam is sorta similar frankly. He has no "bag" whatsoever. Neither of them do. I do think that we need to lock him up early after the season or go for Naz Reid as contingency. Even beyond Jabari's inability to create a shot off the dribble is how poor hes been around the rim.
