Exactly. This has been their talking point since we were 2nd seed. We’re a few games away from being a play in team. This team is the definition of mediocrity and since the new years, they’ve just been bad, not even mediocre.
Stone is whatever. He deserves the most credit for getting ownership to agree to a complete rebuild. He has made lots of mistakes - and also had his fair share of good moves too. FWIW I think the hardest part of his job is still to come. Making top 4 picks every year and clearing cap space isn’t hard. What will be hard is getting a franchise player and proper supporting cast. I would like to ask Stone how he had the 2nd pick, 3rd pick, 4th pick and third pick and didn’t manage to get a single franchise player. He at least brought in a good coach.
People are actually mad that he raised expectations lol, if we were never 2 seed for a time and had just been 5th seed all this time then no one would be disappointed.
Is 6th/7th seed the play in? Rome wasnt built in a day, there are stages to building a team and even Presti took several years to make OKC the no 1 seed and he even had SGA day 1. Firing Stone who did a great job and exceeded the target everybody set for the Rockets just doesnt make any sense. Doesnt matter if you are a fan of mediocrity or not, everybody agreed on a target to be achieved at the end of the year. The year isnt even done and you want the dude fired for overachieving the target everybody had set because he hadnt exceeded it enough. LOL thats some Nico Harris thinking.
Its funny if the Rockets sucked ass and were just a play in team all these posters would happy and say we are on schedule.
Not true because you can actually see what the team lacks: shooting, a better backup PG and a serviceable backup big. We don't need more 2nd round picks.
Unless that adjustment was getting Jokic or MAYBE shai/luka, we weren't taking the west that's just insane.
Why are you guys so fixated on seeding? Look at our play style. Our defense is trash and our offense is even worse. We have zero tier 1 prospects and our drafted players have a low ceiling so I don’t automatically assume we’ll get better as they age.
I think Amen is our franchise player, but certainly 3 and 4 years out, Jalen and Bari are not as good as where they were drafted.
Wtf people are expecting a championship team for one of the youngest teams in the league? Young teams make mistakes! It’s gonna take couple of years of tweakings then go ahead and evaluate whatever the **** you want.
The goal is play in at the start of the year if we were just a play in team which was the goal why would you be upset? Upset at the team for hitting the goal? lol
Do you really think Stone is the guy who will build a championship contender? Don't get me wrong, I keep saying that he did a great job building this team from the ground up but we need someone to take this team to the next level. Also Stone is no Presti because unlike Stone, Presti knows how to capitalize on the assets he has
They can only improve the team so much from season to season. They improved upon last season. If you look at nearly every contender you see this same path lol. It is SUPER rare for a team to go from no playoffs to a contender when you build through the draft. A team has to rise through the playoffs to get to contending ship. Man it wasn't even that long ago where Harden and Westbrook were knocking out Shai's OKC team, it does feel like a long time ago though.
Nobody can really pick BPA, nobody knows the future. Jalen and Jabari are still pretty good and would still be top 5 in a redraft. Thats good enough for me. Sengun and Tari are also great pickups that would be picked much higher in a redraft as well. Well actually Cade, Mobley, Sengun, Wagner, Jalen Johnson, Barnes ok maybe Green might be in the 6-10 range. However I think thats just the strength of the 2021 class a lot of studs in that draft.
I'm focused on all that matters. The win and loss records compared to the rest of the NBA...which is seeding. If the team avoids the play-in then they will have been a success to me. If they then go on to have a competitive first round then that is also a success. If they go to the 2nd round, a MASSIVE success. Yall here are more down on this team than any other fan in the NBA. Go to a general NBA forum, most other teams are jealous of where this franchise is right now. You want to talk about crappy GMs, look at where the Suns are at or now the Mavs. Now those are some trash GMs. One GM completely sold their future to be a mediocre team at best and...well, I guess both GMs did that. I'm judging the team from last season to this season. If next season they are in the same exact spot I'd be disappointed but I am happy of the progress made.
This is my stance as well. Stone did well as rebuild GM but I do not see him as wartime GM. And as soon as Udoka was hired, Rockets were going to war.
Maybe on Amen. I was and still am a huge fan, but I think he has some real offensive limitations at this point. I think that offensive hub will have to come from outside the organization and a 37 year old Hall of Famer isn’t the solution.
Well if you're already happy with meeting the "goal" then good for you. Like I mentioned in my previous response, I despise mediocrity and unfortunately that is what I am seeing at the moment and changes needs to be made either from letting Stone go or him stepping up his game and accepting that changes needs to be made in the offseason
