I don't think I've ever seen anything like it on the Rockets, however I have noticed our opponents don't get a lot of foul calls as well. You know that effect where if you play aggressive like Draymond then you don't get called for fouls as easily as everyone else? But you then have to absorb the same on the other side of the court? I think that's what we're experiencing and it's egregious with Jalen because he drives to the rim most often. I'm sure the respect will be there after he puts up a solid season and people talk about it a little. Right now to be honest, even our coach keeps telling him to stay out of "crowded areas" which in an Udoka offense means "never go to the paint" since the paint is packed every single game now.
Jalen was very impressive last night. He got players involved and went with the flow of the game, most players would be frustrated playing vs the B squad roster, but you can tell he enjoys some of those guys on the court with him.
Jalen is at 21.6 points right now. Scoring 7.4 to 8.4 more points would be a big leap. More FTs is probably the best route for Jalen to reach his potential (as long as the shooting remains improved). That second season he had a nice free throw rate, though it has dropped since then.
That could happen. It's 3 Pt% and FTA for him. He averaged 25.7 ppg in January but was also making 42.7% of his 3's. He's fallen back to earth since that January spark.
That are higher. FVV works better with Alpi in the PNR. Jalen gets the majority of his points at the end of the 1st and in the 2nd Qtr, when Fred sits and the ball is in Jalen's hands. Jalen and Amen started to build a repore in the SA game, then Ime started Fred and everything with south. However, we'll see
We’ve always said that his ppg really isn’t accurate because usually he doesn’t start scoring til Alpi sits, then when he gets going in 2nd Ime sits him for like 7 min til 2-3 min left in 2nd…. Then he sits end of 3rd and start of 4th…. 1 more 3pt shot and 1-2 foul calls on drives would push his ppg up nicely to the next level
Worse game I seen from him in awhile, he started to settle - didn’t have same energy, I know he hates to sit out but he might need to sit a game or 2 and get right if something is bothering him
Ime should have played Jalen in 2nd half vs OKC + sat him today. He has been cold from 3P last few games but vs OKC his gravity was crazy + he was having great game as playmaker.
JG won’t sit out but he kind of sit out not playing the 4th … he’s been pretty good and he’s human… games like this happen.. Ant had a horrible stretch for 2 weeks but unless folks actually keep up with more than just their team or fav player it would never be known
I could tolerate his at times inconsistent offense if he were playing better 2 way ball. After a solid first half of the season in which he was neutral defensively, he's been absolutely awful the last 2 months or so. Even before this game he had the worst defensive on/off for the team. Tonight was maybe the worst example I've seen of his slow rotations and off ball movement. The fact that Indiana moves the ball so well really, really put it on full display. While certainly not the sole culprit for our recent defensive struggles, he's been the worst.
It's been comical people over the past few weeks claiming he's still been a good defender, because he's played one or two good defensive possessions through an entire game. I dare people to look objectively at plays when a team is attacking and he is the one between them and the basket, or he is the closest one to them and the basket. Tracy Mcgrady vs Toronto levels of just pure garbage.
Oh this is made up Sorry we don't need a tougher defensive standard than Ime Udoka's about the last couple of months Jater, thank you very much lol
