Reed needs to actually be given the reigns to play pg and not just be a spot up shooter. EVERYTIME hes been allowed to do that he shines. College, summer league, gleague and for the first time in the NBA tonight. Why Ime insists on playing him in the exact opposite way that hes always had success is absolutely mind boggling.
Holy moly what a game. i will have to watch the replay tonight. But its such a relief to see him shine.
Ime needs to play Fred and Reed like he does Stevo and Jock. Fred obviously cannot play B2B so Reed needs to start when Fred sits. And Cam needs to be first off bench when Tari rests too. And please play Jack McVeigh when Jabari or Jeff can't hit the ocean.
Ime tried to do that earlier in the season. He was handling the ball a ton as the backup PG alongside the Terror Twins. But he was too tentative offensively and eventually played himself out of the rotation.
Finally, 3rd pick doing 3rd pick things. Great showing. He'll be a nice player, just needs more patience.
I can't understand how/why Ime hasn't been able to figure out a way to use him because he's obviously playing like this in practice along with the 49 outburst in his g league game. Injuries forcing Ime's hand is not a good look.
They did win a lot of those games, but usually in spite of Reed. He didn't bring much to that second unit. I defended Ime benching him in favor of Aaron at the time, but I assumed it would be temporary. The problem is Ime seems hellbent on not playing Reed at all when the team is fully healthy.
Giving up on a guy in his first year before he has really had a chance to play, is flat out STUPID! Don't be stupid. DD

I watched those games. Hell, I was in attendance for a few of them. Reed would constantly pass up open shots. He looked terrified to shoot the ball. Sometimes it was because defenders would close out on him, but a lot of times he simply refused to take the shot.
I kind of understand what Ime has been trying to do with Reed...but it clearly wasn't/isn't working. He wants him to play because he knows that he can, but he doesn't let him fail very much. Reed Sheppard who knows he's playing 25+ minutes and Reed Sheppard who may get yanked after 3 minutes...they're 2 different players, it's night and day. If Reed has been doing great things in practice (which is what you hear) then you should have left him out there to fail instead of these DNP's/cameo appearances. The team desperately needs some offensive pop, if you have to have to take some development lumps to try and get it so be it.
Its because he fell in love with Amen being the PG.. Amen imo is not that great as a playmaker. He should not be initiating offense (yet). also holiday tricked Ime. Reed DNP-CD are criminal.
