Why hasn’t Seth Curry joined the Warriors long term by now to play with his brother?

Even though Steph is the superior brother and player, I feel like Seth and him would have really good chemistry on the court.

It’s odd to me they’re not playing together.

It can be quite a delight as brothers to play alongside each other representing the same NBA team. Having said that, the talent pool has been so shallow that NBA teams have managed to field brothers on the same team only 5 times in the history of the league.

Sons of former NBA player Dell Curry, NBA’s reigning MVP Stephen and brother Seth could have gone on to become the sixth sibling pair to play for the same team however the latter wasn’t too eager to make that happen. After an impressive Summer League performance, where he averaged 24.3 points and received Summer League first team honors, Seth Curry signed his first guaranteed NBA contract with the Sacramento Kings.

Here’s an extract from an excellent profile of Seth by Lee Jenkins of Sports Illustrated:

The Kings made the strongest offer on July 21 -- the day after Summer League ended -- but not the only one. The Pelicans, Hornets and Warriors jumped in as well. “I didn't want to go to Golden State,” Seth says. “I didn't want to go back in Steph's shadow.”

    Go back?

Yes, Seth was a member of the training camp squad for the Golden State Warriors back in 2013, playing the reserve guard behind elder brother Stephen during the pre-season. His comments are no indication of a sour relationship between the brothers since clearly the entire Curry family has time and again shown what a close-knit they are. It just seems to be Seth wanting to make a name for himself in the league, now that he has the opportunity to do so.

Neither Seth nor Stephen are too disappointed about the prospect of not playing on the same team, the latter has even started talking trash to his brother. Here’s what Stephen had to say about facing his brother on The Dan Patrick Show:

"There's already a group text message going on in our family for the first time that we play each other, which I think is November 7th in Sacramento. We're probably going to have 50, 60 family members try to come out to the game. It's gonna be a lot of fun, but I'm already talking trash in the text message. I think we're going to win by double digits, and I hope to have a couple one-on-one scenarios with Seth out on the floor. That would be a dream come true."

Damian Lee is his brother in law and he is also not always playing with him.

Probably pride? Maybe if Seth Curry is a total scrub like Giannis' bro he'd be ok hanging on to GSW but since Seth can actually play he prob prefers to make his own path instead of get a hand out.

I like how you said Steph is not only the superior player but the superior brother in general. Lol

I am afraid Seth is retiring sooner than his brother.

He should retire after playing 1-2 seasons with Steph.
