I definitely said I thought he would be a point guard at the time he was drafted too, although I'll admit to having wavered at times when he was excelling so much as the starting PF, as you correctly called me out for I'm back to thinking he should be our franchise point guard by the way--though I still think he has some development to do before he fully takes on Fred's duties.
Well, as little as less than 2 months ago, I still had doubt whether he would be an NBA level PG. What did I know?
I love Amen but every time he has a career game he follows it up instantly with a dud. Celtics gamewinner and then came out bad the entire week after. Hopefully this is just a one game thing this time.
He had a good game at PG. The next game, Ime sends him to the corner and has him stand there while Fred, Jalen, and Sengun get us in a 20 point deficit. Amen had a bad game, but the coach set him up to have a bad game. We finally got some momentum going as an offensive team and FVV comes back and his rusty out of shape ass is immediately inserted back into running the offense. This game is absolutely 100% on Ime’s poor coaching.
I definitely thought it was an overreaction when some people started saying Amen is not the best future Rocket but he is the best Rocket NOW. Lack of shooting is a real thing to overcome but I think he's got the intangibles, it factor if you will continue to improve.
Yea that's a little baffling. It's like the only weakness that Amen has, but yea let's have him sit in the corner lol. Kinda of reminds me when we got Pippen back in the day and basically had him sit behind the three-point line waiting for Hakeem or Charles to kick it back out to him. And we were shocked when he didn't excel lol.
What if we took our most promising prospect and relegated him to being the 4th option on offense? One thing that used to bug me back in the day about one Gary Kubiak was his absolute inability to change beyond what he had already decided. Stubborn to an absolute fault. Ime has publically come out and said this is the starting unit moving forward and it looked like absolute **** yesterday. Your turn, my turn, his turn, Sengun's turn is way too many chefs in the kitchen and it was concerning as hell to watch it unfold yesterday.
Ime Udoka making Fred VanVleet the 1st Option in Handling the ball is crazy foolish. Starting the Game when he was out a month. He looked old, slow, rusty. Fred VanVleet is slow, out of shape, terrible in shooting, undersized, Zach Lavine literally ran past him in a pick and roll and Jonas Valenciunas Dunked the Ball. Inexcusable lazy defense. Why didn't Fred VanVleet come off the bench and be limited to 10 minutes. Fred started and stepped on somebody foot he was limping and twisted it again and continued playing. Ime doesn't even BENCH Fred, what kind of double standard craziness is this. Fred and Dillon can play like amateur brick artists for 30 plus minutes and Ime accepts whatever. Ime should be held accountable.
With Wembanyama out this season, Amen on short list for DPOY. https://www.poundingtherock.com/202...award-jaren-mobley-amen-thompson-gobert-dyson "During Wednesday night’s telecast, Ryan Ruocco and James Bilas mentioned that Amen Thompson, who was January’s Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month, and Jaren Jackson, Jr., December’s Western Conference Defensive Player of the Month, were the only two players in the league to have 60+ blocks and 60+ steals." I don't think he will actually win DPOY but he might get a few votes. He damn well better make all-defense though.
