It’s the time of the year again. The Rockets are looking to have another top 10 pick. Personally I would like another crack at a 3point shooting % guard. UT’s Tre Johnson is over 40% in college so far. If not that a center that is a different look from Sengun would be interesting. More competent size is never a bad thing.
If not a Top 4 pick, I like Rasheer Fleming. Hard to watch St Joseph's, but he looked good against Texas inside and defensively. I didn't see this in the Texas game, but he's also shooting threes at a good volume for a PF at 44%. In college, he's basically a roll man on offense that's got Jabari's shot, Tari's defense, and Cam's passing. Not much star potential but looks like he'll be a solid player.
3 and D, SF Wing is needed since Tari Eason injury will be a issue. JaeSean Tate is really trying his best out there, need more height at SF/PF.
he looks interesting. a junior as well. the suns currently have the 2nd hardest remaining schedule. if you look at their last 15 games or so it's a very very hard schedule. they are one injury away from giving the rockets another to 10 pick. which would be 5 years in a row along with Eason, Sengun, and Whitmore out of the top 10. gobs of talent.
I didn't realize he was a junior. That would explain why someone that looks as good as him was not getting earlier buzz.
Miles Byrd is starting to get some buzz. 6'7 sophomore, good shooter, very good POA and help defender. Shows some vision and creativity as a passer. Doesn't do much ball handling, doesn't finish or get to the the rim that well. Starting to pop as one of the best 3+D prospects this draft next to Rasheer Fleming. Really like seeing the passing and motion shooting in this clip, but the defensive highlights might be even better. Reads the passing lanes, active hands bother ball handers, closes and rotates hard, and some nice help side contests.
What do the Rockets need more in the late lottery scoring off the bench or size and/or defense? I think it depends on what they think Sheppard can do next year. If you can add someone else that is disruptive like Amen and Tari but at the center position. I dont know if that exists in this draft though.
Whichever player we pick is the one I don't want. Seriously - no one dimensional player, no small/thin players, etc. unless exceptionally skilled/talented. I also don't care about their 3 point percentage unless they're awful shooting the ball from there in which case, they better bring something else. lol
I wonder what type of streaks nba teams have gone on with consecutive top 10 picks? This year could be the Rockets 5th year in a row. Then take one year off then start another 3 year. With the new CBA perhaps this is the way to go and you keep bringing in talent where there is enough of it that cannibalizes other players on the team cumulitive stats and you get chances to sign the players to more reasonable contracts. The rockets obviously wont be able to keep all of the guys they draft but they may be able to keep a lot of them.
The real question is how many NBA GMs were disciplined enough to stay the course to get multiple top 10 picks. Remember most of you wanted him fired after year 2. The Silas years were a chess move that none of you understood until now.
Not me. I wanted them to lose lose and lose more for those 3 years. Hopefully things keep progressing.
How crazy is it that we might have a high 40 to 50 win season...and still have a possible top-10 pick! We might end up having too much talent and too little playing time, but that's a great problem to have
That's great until you see OKC with nearly the best record in the NBA (only a game behind the Cavs at the moment) and the potential to have 3 near-lottery picks.
