How is Jalen doing? How do you predict he will perform in these critical remaining games?

    This season:
    21.6 points on 17.8 shots (TS 55%)
    43/36/83 splits
8.3 three point attempts per game (19th in entire NBA)
    4 FTA
    4.4 rebounds, 3.1 assists
    Above average defense

Last quarter of a season (21 games):
    22.6 points on 19 shots (TS 54.6%)
    43/38/75 splits
8.8 three point attempts per game (19th in entire NBA)
    3.9 FTA
    4.3 rebounds, 4.1 assists
    Average defense

    Last 82 games:

Personally my only issue with Jalen now is excessive 3PA and not enough FTA - however, this is a spacing problem more than anything. Coach is constantly on about not attacking his crowded paint - I believe this is an issue that will resolve itself when we improve at 3's or add better shooters. Udoka and Silas have both commented that he is too aggressive attacking the rim, so since it's not a fear of contact issue I'm not worried.

I’m not one for lumping the end of last year numbers into a cherry-picked stat, but you can’t argue that Jalen hasn’t improved his shooting efficiency, and for me that was what I needed to see sustained over the course of a full season. November was rough, but if he can continue to play well through the rest of the season and in the playoffs, I’ll be happy to admit I was wrong about Jalen. It’s also worth pointing out the defensive progress which we started to see going back to last season that has continued. I’d still like to see him take better care of the ball, but one has to acknowledge that it finally looks like he’s starting to put it all together. Lastly the fact that he’s worked through adversity to get where he is right now is a sign of mental toughness, which I had big questions about with Jalen his first 3 seasons. @Mathloom may have been right all along ;) knock on wood. Hope he finishes up strong.

    Happy, but...

If Jalen (1) continues trending upward the rest of the season, especially in the playoffs and (2) consistently closes tough games well, I'll upgrade to happy and completely forget the first part of the season.

Post-ASB is where the tire meets the road. Just like every player on the team, for me, the final 25 games are more important for evaluation than the first 50.

Appreciate it and the job is not done yet but please consider I've in the past shared 10-game, quarter-season, half-season and now 82-game splits and all of these have been called cherry picked. I honestly even thought about this while creating the thread and intentionally included season and quarter season stats so anyone can make their own assessment whether they prefer season, recent or larger sample. The only reason I added the 82 is because that's a significant sample and I'm using the end of last season to simulate what we might expect the end of this season. FWIW the last 25 games of last season and the last 25 games of this season are both exactly TS 57.6% - it's luckily so reasonable.

I get the feeling there are just a lot more cherries to pick from the Green tree.

After I put all the Jalen Stans on ignore I was able to watch the Rockets and just enjoy rooting for Jalen. He has been extended, he is a Rocket and I want the Rockets to win.

I'm happy he's finally shown some improvement to his 3P%. I still want more consistency and better decisionmaking from him, and I want to see him close out the season strong. If those things happen I don't see much reason to seek a trade involving him in the offseason unless somebody like Ant Edwards or maybe Maxey becomes available? The version of JG who shoots 36+ percent from three and makes fewer boneheaded mistakes on both ends is a good starting caliber player. The SGs better than him in the league would mostly be much older and/or have less upside.

I'd at least be past the point where I'd trade him for a Desmond Bane, Tyler Herro, Austin Reaves level of dude. Probably not Devin Booker either at this point who is still better but too old and expensive for the delta between the two

Here lies of few problems that’s known …
He has people believing he’ll repeat taking a step forward towards the end of this season only then take a step back beginning of next season like before. I still think he’s a really good player and we seen him clutch out before in a game or 2 or 3. He needs to be more consistent and take over when is needed . It’s his knock of being THAT guy taken with 2nd pick and having those high expectations .

(Hope I come off making sense lol )

Jalen trolls: "If Jalen can only hit 8 threes a game on 90% I'll be finally satisfied"

You guys will never be happy

Udoka on what's behind Jalen's growth over the past year (starts at 5:38):

    - Understanding defenses and reads has been important part of development
    - Facilitating better
    - Ups and downs last year but...
    - Started the season well and now it's an afterthought that he's going to bring that on a nightly basis which is what they love about him

Thank you Rockets Fuel for the perfectly timed question just as these 82-game stats are making the rounds.

I'm happy but hehas room to grow, just like Sengun. They are 22 and 23, no reason to believe they have reached their prime yet, but there's definitely growth needed.

Should've posted this in December, you would've had about 100 pages by now.. You missed your chance at lore... Now you gotta wait till he has 5 subpar games in a row ..

This year has been solid growth. A commitment on the defensive end. Better consistency on the offensive. I loved that he gambled on himself with his contract. I see continued improvement for him over the next few seasons, primarily coming via increased consistency.

As it stands today, he’s an impactful player that knows how to defer when his shot isn’t falling. When comparing him to other “targets”, I’d be hesitant to move him as his future is brighter and he has great chemistry with the team.

Would've been an All Star, but LeBrat didn't want Jalen Green added to All Star game
if he notified the league in a timely manner.

Some say Sabonis would've been called up.....but Big Men don't wow fans in All Star games.

The area that’s particularly underwhelming is passing. Everything else is closer to mediocre.

He’s shown flashes of great play and flashes of horrid play. He’s talented but he has to be consistently better to live up to his contract and expectations.

Jalen is a lightningrod type player, so naturally fans will tend to either really like him or hate him to start. BUT I do think that his overall improvement has swayed some neutral people into believing in him, and that’s pretty cool!

    Hope he keeps getting better

Looking at SGs under the age of 25 to match our young core timeline, only Anthony Edwards would be a solid yes over Green. Barrett, Poole, Simons, George, Sharpe, Dick, and Mathurim would be a no. Not to say these young guards can’t get better but Green has shown enough improvement this year to believe he still has room to grow. Sure Booker, Mitchell, Brown, and those over 28 are much better players but by the time we’re ready to contend and our core is closer to 23-24 years of age these guys likely starting to decline.
