Glad this one is in the books. Even though we fell behind 10-2 early I felt good abut this game when we went up by 19 points mid way through the second half. The reality was we played against a team whose chances to make the NCAA tourney were hanging by a thread with a chance to add a win against us to their resume. It kind of sucks that like ISU they rallied in the final few minutes to make the game closer than it should have been. Kudos to them but I would have preferred a blowout. Looking forward to March basketball. If we keep everyone healthy and stay focused and continue to play well together as a team, I think our best basketball of the season is still ahead. We are fortunate to live in an unprecedented era. A little different than PSJ but so far a longer window of sustained excellence. For now, with no end in sight.
For once, in the Sampson Era, they can shoot from outside. That may make them the best team he's ever had. Maybe.
I understand the sentiment, but there is much more to be done. They have to win the Big 12 tournament, and fight their way through March Madness, make it to the Final Four, AND win it all, for the first time EVER. A very, very TALL task. I think this team can do it, but it is so, so hard to win the whole thing.
Best offensive team in the Sampson era, IMO. Bodes well for the tournament. Crazy that this team is a few bounces away from being a 1-loss team (with the 1 loss coming to the #1 team in the country). 3 of the 4 losses were OT. And 3 of the top 20 HS kids in the country coming in next year.
We have length, athleticism, shooting, rebounding, depth, IQ, coaching, dat post-game, and defense. A bundle you dream of. The only thing missing is a true closer if things dry up on offense. That is a big deal. But Roberts has earned that trust and can be as good as anyone. Also, Wilson can create space in the lane if we need a guy with a signature shot in his bag. Team is worthy.
Heads up, Kansas here tonight! Coogs sealed the Big 12 championship Saturday, so they are now playing for tournament seeding. Kansas would like nothing better than to come in and beat them on their home court. Coogs must stay focused. Run the table.
We have a lot to play for tonight. We have inside track to one seed it's ours to lose. Must not let up. Plus it's senior night. Last home game ever for Jwan, Cryer, Wilson, Javier, and possibly Walker if he doesn't get another year from medical hardship. All the farewell videos are up on youtube and watching them brings back some incredible and wonderful memories. Like you said. Stay focused and run the table.
Hopefully that comment “this is a team full of role players” lights a fire. JK, the boys didn’t hear that. I did though and let’s ****in go!!!
