I watch JS once in a blue moon but he made good points last night about "the substance"

    SKIP ahead to 14:00 minutes

This is something meaty dems can go after ONCE this process plays out and Americans don't see $5k checks in their bank account or a massive drop in inflation

But the initial process of reducing govt size needs to be done before concrete arguments can be introduced for what needs to be added back

Doge is saving money by making up claims and having the media do the research for them. Wish I could have done that in highschool for my homework.

It's a regular theme with these newbies - they don't know what they're seeing or doing. But don't worry, eventually, they'll get it.

Be patient. All of this is just short-term chaos for $4.5 trillion in tax cuts to the very wealthy while raising the debt by another $4 trillion over the next decade.

DOGE Quietly Deletes the 5 Biggest Spending Cuts It Celebrated Last Week
    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/upshot/doge-spending-cuts-changed.html

The cuts, highlighted on an earlier version of the “wall of receipts” posted by Elon Musk’s team, contained mistakes that vastly inflated the amount of money saved.

21 employees of department renamed DOGE resign to protest dismantling of 'critical public services'

DOGE's actions -- firing technical experts, mishandling sensitive data, and breaking critical systems -- contradict their stated mission of 'modernizing Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity,'

Several of these interviewers refused to identify themselves, asked questions about political loyalty, attempted to pit colleagues against each other, and demonstrated limited technical ability,” the staffers wrote in their letter. “This process created significant security risks.”

DOGE secretly deleting the top 5 saving claims amounts to an admission that it had fabricated its "wall of receipt" data trying to fool the public.

I doubt anyone in this country has received 38 billion in government funding like Elon Musk. He's made a living off taking our taxpayer dollars for his businesses, and he's the one profiting most, not the taxpayers who could care less about his private profiteering off our government.

You returned to post this nonsense?

So in your little world, Musks lies about what Doge has cut are “morally imperfect”, but that’s ok bc you’re a good daddy.

Do your kids know their daddy is an idiot that believes in the lies by Musk and Doge about the cuts being made? The chainsaw cost more than the cuts made.

The little world is the person who pretends history isn't riddled with imperfect, deeply flawed men doing what needed to be done. Doing what is necessary. Your naivety shows lack of real world experience. They might have overstated or exaggerated the size of the cuts, but that's politics. The fact is the intention is there to consolidate agencies and cut off the gravy train of NGO's being money laundering operations. Two things can be true.
They could have initially been created for good, but wound up being used for greed, excess and corrupt individuals.

Well this is good news. I was honestly concerned that you are too stupid to realize that Musk’s claims about Doge’s cuts are complete bullcr-p.

DODGE (Musk)'s mode of operation is "fail fast." This is a common approach in the tech world - try new things quickly, and if they fail, they fail. The key is to correct failures rapidly.

Of course, in engineering, failures are typically isolated to controlled indoor development environments where they do not impact customers. Sometimes, fast deployment happens with known bugs, and as issues arise, they are quickly addressed - but even then, it's done carefully and incrementally to minimize the impact of failures.

You can certainly apply this model to the U.S. government, but only if failures are similarly isolated to development environments. Even when customer-facing, changes must be implemented quickly but intelligently, with safeguards in place. And most importantly, there must be a solid plan for rapid recovery. You should not blindly apply this approach without a deep and accurate understanding of how the government operates, what it does, the potential consequences of failure, and how to recover effectively.

Musk claims that one of DODGE’s "failures" was the accidental cancellation of an Ebola prevention program, which he says was quickly remedied. But that’s not true.

Musk says DOGE ‘restored’ Ebola prevention effort. Officials say that’s not true.

Elon Musk on Wednesday acknowledged that the U.S. DOGE Service “accidentally canceled” efforts by the U.S. Agency for International Development to prevent the spread of Ebola — but the billionaire entrepreneur insisted that the initiative was quickly restored.

“We will make mistakes. We won’t be perfect. But when we make a mistake, we’ll fix it very quickly,” Musk said at a meeting of President Donald Trump’s Cabinet officials, defending his group’s fast-moving approach to canceling federal programs in a bid for cost savings. “So we restored the Ebola prevention immediately. And there was no interruption.”

Yet current and former USAID officials said that Musk was wrong: USAID’s Ebola prevention efforts have been largely halted since Musk and his DOGE allies moved last month to gut the global-assistance agency and freeze its outgoing payments, they said. The teams and contractors that would be deployed to fight an Ebola outbreak have been dismantled, they added. While the Trump administration issued a waiver to allow USAID to respond to an Ebola outbreak in Uganda last month, partner organizations were not promptly paid for their work, and USAID’s own efforts were sharply curtailed compared to past efforts to fight Ebola outbreaks.

“There have been no efforts to ‘turn on’ anything in prevention” of Ebola and other diseases, said Nidhi Bouri, who served as a senior USAID official during the Biden administration and oversaw the agency’s response to health-care outbreaks.

The person who finally gets up and cleans the house isn't going to care that they threw away your favorite mug when everyone knew the house needed to be cleaned and just walked past the mess.

I know when I'm cleaning someone else's house, I just use a bulldozer to remove 50% of the house. I can't be bothered to actually look at each room.

I don't clean anyone else's house. Only my own.

But If I have to clean up something that someone else did, I'm just throwing all of it away. Not sorting through mess that you didn't care to clean up when you had the opportunity to.

Apparently, you'd make an excellent janitor.

    Congrats.
