Frankly, I was hoping that for a transactional guy, we’d get a transactional deal with mutual benefits - though there are real security risks to the U.S. in the long term when it comes to potentially using our armed forces to secure resources. After that, I was expecting a full exit from this administration anyway, but I was hoping they’d do it reasonably, in phases, to give Ukraine an option to switch strategies and time to get what it needs from Europe and elsewhere.

The U.S. and Ukraine negotiated for weeks to come up with this deal, and both sides were ready to sign it. TF happened yesterday that derailed it? That raises so many conclusions, and none of them are good. They range from bad to horribly bad. The folks saying the U.S. just did a 180 and turned toward Putin aren’t off-base after that SS. But we’ll see in the coming weeks whether this is an abrupt exit or if they come back for a different transactional deal.

ps They were both spinning Russian propaganda and airing personal grievances, including grudges over Zelensky’s visit to PA, which Vance sees as an attack on their campaign. These guys cannot let go of past grievances and do what’s best for the U.S. instead of clinging to their long-standing grudges.

 

Trump does somehow always find a way to lower the bar doesn't he? He's such an embarrassment to this country. Just when you think he can't possibly do something more stupid, disgusting, or embarrassing he does.

Anyway remember 20 years ago when the debate was whether or not the US should serve as "the world's policeman" - now it's how harsh will the rest of the world police us.
