It's a mistake to ascribe nefarious complex arbitrage schemes to dangerous dunces s like Trump and Musk. Have you heard either of them speak lately?

This is not really a well thought out master plan,

Trump is senile & demented, no need to say anymore.

Musk is a drugged up neo nazi with rotted Twitter brain, but other than "break things, ruin america forever, and then I'll be richer and more powerful than ever!" he has not really thought this through.

Like, it's not mutually exclusive or inconsistent to think of Trump/Musk etc as powerful dangerous ignoramuses who can barely add 2+2.

They have a plan. Maybe they didn't come up with it and someone else gave it to them, but there are capable of executing on a plan.

They aren't stupid. Stupid is certain ways, but still smart in others and very well capable of market manipulation.

I bring this up since Vance is a yuge sock puppet for this ideology.

In a public forum for defense, he chided Europe, Germany in particular, for shunning far right nationalist parties like the afd

That xitter loved speech of his is unapologetic support of Theilism.

Peter Thiel's views on multiculturalism and liberalism are complex and have evolved over time, forming the basis for his strategic political spending.

    ## Views on Multiculturalism

Thiel co-authored "The Diversity Myth" in 1995, which criticized political correctness and multiculturalism in higher education[3]. The book argues that embracing "diversity" doesn't actually promote true diversity of thought[6].

In discussions about his book, Thiel has expressed concern that multiculturalism leads to:
    - The destruction of actual diversity in the world
    - A narrowing of culture and ideals to "lowest common denominator" values
    - The replacement of cultural bonds with material products and "culturally secular values"
    - The abolishment of unique cultural artifacts[1]

He has suggested that cultures need "critical mass" to exist, and that when there are too many cultures in one place, local culture gets abolished[1].

    ## Views on Liberalism

Thiel has become increasingly critical of liberalism over time:

    - In 2009, he wrote that "freedom and democracy are no longer compatible," suggesting that expanding voting rights had made "capitalist democracy" an "oxymoron"[9]
    - He has characterized liberalism as "weary" and suggested democracy is "exhausted"[2]
    - In a 2024 podcast, he drew concerning parallels between the current U.S. and pre-Nazi Germany of the 1920s, suggesting both were periods when liberalism was failing[2]
    - He has expressed admiration for Carl Schmitt, a political theorist who became a Nazi supporter, particularly for his "profound critiques" of liberalism[2]

    ## Political Spending Strategy

Thiel's ideological strategy manifests through targeted political investments:

    1. **Cultivating ideological protégés**: He identifies and funds political talent that aligns with his worldview, including J.D. Vance and Blake Masters[7]. These candidates tend to reflect his unique mix of libertarianism and nationalism[7].

    2. **Dark money influence**: He channels funds through "dark money" groups like Per Aspera Policy to support candidates who share his views[4].

    3. **Strategic corporate influence**: While funding anti-Big Tech candidates, he maintained his position on Facebook's board, giving him influence in both tech and politics[7].

    4. **Media control**: After being outed by Gawker, he bankrolled Hulk Hogan's lawsuit against the publication, ultimately bankrupting it—demonstrating his willingness to use wealth to control media narratives[8].

    5. **Alternative platforms**: He invests in companies like Rumble, a "free speech" focused social network popular with the far right, creating infrastructure for his ideological allies[8].

Thiel's political spending reflects a vision that combines libertarian economics with nationalist cultural views and skepticism of liberal democracy. His approach treats politics like venture capital—making strategic bets on people and platforms that could advance his worldview[5][7].

After initially supporting Trump in 2016 (donating $1.25 million), Thiel stepped back from the 2020 and 2024 elections, though his influence continues through the candidates he previously backed[9].

Peter Thiel's influence can be clearly seen in the Trump administration's recent actions, despite Thiel not holding an official government position. His ideological fingerprints are visible across several key areas of the administration's approach.

    ## Silicon Valley Network Infiltration

Thiel has established a powerful network of tech allies who now occupy influential positions in the Trump administration:

    - David Sacks, a PayPal collaborator with Thiel, was appointed as the White House "AI and Crypto Czar"[9]
    - Jim O'Neill, former CEO of Thiel's foundation, was selected as deputy secretary at Department of Health and Human Services[9]
    - Elon Musk, who worked closely with Thiel at PayPal and received early funding from Thiel's Founders Fund, now oversees the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)[9]
    - Michael Kratsios, who worked at Thiel's family office for seven years, is coordinating science policy across the government[6]

This network extends Thiel's influence throughout the administration without requiring his direct involvement. As one report notes, "Thiel has a direct line to the president, vice president, and every techie with an inner circle government position"[6].

    ## Dismantling the Administrative State

The administration's February 19, 2025 executive order on "Ensuring Lawful Governance and Implementing the President's 'Department of Government Efficiency' Deregulatory Initiative" reflects Thiel's long-standing skepticism toward government bureaucracy[7]. This order requires agencies to identify and rescind regulations that are inconsistent with Trump's policies, constraining their enforcement authorities.

The creation of DOGE itself aligns with Thiel's vision of reducing government oversight while maintaining influence over key technological domains[3].

    ## Technology and AI Focus

The administration's emphasis on technology, particularly AI, mirrors Thiel's interests:

    - The announcement of a $500 billion AI infrastructure project called "Stargate"[3]
    - The influence of Silicon Valley CEOs including Thiel allies on cabinet decisions
    - The administration's positioning of AI development as a national security priority in competition with China[3]

    ## Truth and Institutional Skepticism

Thiel's essay "A time for truth and reconciliation" advocated for using Trump's return to reveal "hidden truths" and challenge established institutions[4]. This aligns with the administration's actions undermining traditional civic institutions like universities, media organizations, and bureaucracies that Thiel has criticized as having "lost their ability to regulate the truth"[4].

While Thiel has scaled back his direct financial support compared to 2016, his network's deep integration into the administration ensures his ideological influence continues to shape policy. His investments in companies that collaborate with the U.S. government are positioned to benefit from these connections[9].

The rise of oligarchy is nothing new and has been predicted for decades. They are just living up to what was inevitable to play out. In an ironic twist - socialists were right that capitalism would ultimately lead to this. Why wouldn't the uber rich feel they should have outsized influence and that a system of being put on equal footing as those they look down upon is seriously flawed?

For all their railing against elitism, this is what the GOP is today - elites who look down at the rest of people as pawns to control. Let them eat cake. We all know how that ends.

A recession isn't necessarily a bad thing. A series of small, short recessions is one hell of a lot better than a lasting depression.

I still don't believe we've fully recovered from 2008. We keep pushing an organic recovery out further and further.

Met with friends this evening that work at major employers here in Houston, notably Chevron, and are all experiencing deep layoffs.

Consumer sentiment and spending is down. Unemployment claims are up.Prices are only going higher, layoffs are already starting, just wait until Medicaid is cut and the loss of all those federal grants and contracts impacts the economy.

But at least we will go into massive debt to get Billionaires closer to being trillionaires.

The patented Republican recession is well on its way.

Don't forget the CFPB is shut down so your bank can cheat nd steal from you and you're screwed... you may get a greedy company ding your credit score for no reason and when you go to file a complaint against the phony mark you'll realize the agency is shutdown and nobody is there to help you.

Were headed into an era where firms will steal from you and then just bribe the WH. Golden era of fraud and corruption

My question was more to gauge and understand where these people’s red line is at, if there is any at all. This psychological phenomenon will be studied and talked about in the future.
