Fair enough. Reed hasn't shot well so far in the NBA and won't have any sort of meaningful career if his shooting doesn't improve substantially. We can agree on that.
Green is decent enough in defense, a lot more focused TY can be hid because we play positionless D, let him guard the worse offensive player on offense he’s Clutch, can finish in the paint, great on the break, can stretch the court…turnovers will be more than FVV but his benefits in the 4th will outweigh that
I think calling Green decent enough defensively is fair and in certain matchups he solid. He guards smaller players well for example. However his defensive weaknesses don’t go well with Young’s weaknesses. They both struggle against bigger and stronger opponents. Young is an obvious and clear upgrade on offense and would be far better in the full court and break. I just think it would cause too many issues in the playoffs against well rounded teams. If I were to trade for Young, I would target a bigger/thicker SG that is a better shooter. A Klay Thompson type when he was younger would be a great fit. It’s not a terrible idea - I have thought about Young a lot too, I just concluded the problems just plugging him in are likely too much for a Finals type run.
The Rockets have exceeded expectations and are competing for a championship. Reed Shephard has been disappointing and does not deserve to play minutes on a contender. Reed Shephard needs NBA minutes to develop. The Rockets will need to trade Reed elsewhere this summer so he can develop. He'll still have some value this summer. He has no place on this current roster.
His assist number is lower than 2 years ago. Career-wise, it's too low for a high usage ball handler like him.
The Rockets have had 2-3 guys now that looked like earlier disappointments but turned the corner somehow. Stylistically he scores better than he does feed peeps. But we should get back to talking Reed a little more, we have enough Green threads already.
I would put up my hatred of draymond against anyone on this planet but i will give ros credit, he is a damn machine. I still think i would win but it would be close.
Lol......I would not want to win or lose on a draft pick in a pedestrian Draft. But have a little friendly competition.
it’s lower than 2 years ago which was under Silas offense with FVV and Ime offense he’s not getting many assist unless Alpi is hitting shots off PNR (which he’s missing a ton this season) - JG does get a lot of hockey assist 3s but folks don’t account for those
Which is weird, there's really nothing going on because Ime doesnt let him play and they won't send him down again to make their decision making look stupid in the g league. Combine that with these threads being dominated by an absolute simpleton that doesn't even know the basics about basketball and there's really nothing to discuss. When more information becomes available, then we can discuss it, but until then, what are we even doing?
In about 4 games now Carter is avg 27 10 and 5asst. in the G. I think Reed would be doing about 20, 5 and 6.
I think the garbage minutes collapse the other day against the Spurs is a sign that the Rockets are wrong to have kept him from the G-League. He looked so out of sorts, and rusty it was embarrassing. Getting caught and making turnovers in those traps is all about nerves as a PG. Had he been playing PG in the G-League all season I think when he's called up, you see a guy who is a bit more comfortable out there, and able to tame the nerves of being in the NBA a bit better. You see it when G-League point guards are called up that they usually can step in and at least have the poise to not turn the ball over getting the ball past half court. Needless to say that Reed's rookie season has been a complete disaster, and most years a GM missing this badly with a #3 pick would get them fired. Had alot of other things not gone right, Stone would be in the hotseat right now for this trainwreck of a prospect UP TO THIS POINT. Yes he still has potential to be a decent role player/shooter off the bench, but boy have they fumbled his NBA journey up to this point, and Reed hasn't done much of anything to help his case.
It kinda bothers me that he's sucked so bad and he's just like "yeah, I'm just having a lot of fun out there."
What would you rather he do, throw tantrums like Cam? Demand a trade? He's handling having his rookie season wasted by a coach with no clue how to manage rotations who has no interest in developing any more players... or even giving them legitimate opportunities to prove themselves much better than the vast majority of players would handle it.
I'm sure you could get some platitudes, and he'd likely go that route if directly asked... but what else is he going to say, that he's working on getting the in game NBA experience he needs by watching a 30 something journeyman play worse than he would right now?
Too bad they don't record hockey assists. There's really no way to know how good he is at that. You'd have to compare that to league-wide hockey assists like we are doing assists and all the other stats. We can't objectively discuss it. The fact is, most high volume star players have better assists numbers. I would really want to see Jalen to improve on it. The gravity he generates should have given him a lot of opportunities to create good shots for his teammates.
Reed plays a lot with Holiday, Cam, Tate + Landale, guys who are fighting to stay relevant. He would benefit more by playing alongside Stevo + Jeff, who are high IQ vets + team first.
What the hell are you talking about? He went down for 3 games and averaged 30.7 with 8.3 assists, 4.3 boards, and added 2.7 steals and 1 block per. To match your number projections for 4 games he’d need to go down for one more game and basically have 0 points and 0 assists and grab 7 rebounds. Devin Carter is over two years older than Reed btw.
