Unless they have had felony charges I'm not comfortable enough to say one "kid" is better than other, including Zion. Missing team flight hardly qualifies as a bad guy. And his soft tissue injuries to calf + hamstring this season have nothing to do with his weight, again he is down to 264 which is 20 lbs lighter than his Duke playing weight. And his multiple hand injuries in 2021 had nothing to do with his weight either.
He wasnt even serious enough even with his contract. His contract just asks him to just keep his weight down even failed that. And he is a multimillionaire he can hire chefs to feed him expensive low calorie food that taste great.
But thats even scarier you are basically getting a lemon thats ****ed and out of his control. Basically if Zion has a bad mentality his weight balloons and he gets injured. If he tries his best he still has fundamental issues already like soft tissues on his calves and hamstring and multiple hand issues. So either way he gets injured right? So why we want to get him again?
Pelicans have history of oft injured stars from CP3 to AD to Zion, common denominator is that woeful franchise. And feel to stop engaging at anytime, it is just as tiresome for me as it is for you.
Tractor Traylor made zero All Star games. Would you have traded for Embiid last season? Hint: Embiid has never played a single 70 game season, missed the entirety of his 1st two seasons + most of this season but his career includes 2 NBA scoring titles, 3 All Defense, 7 NBA All Star and MVP season. But I will not belabor the point as Pelicans are highly unlikely to give up former #1 pick who is still only 25.
No, I would not have traded the farm and our future for a highly injured Embiid that has been trailing off consistently now for several years. I had a different opinion of him a few years ago thinking he turned a corner but he regressed hard to his early career malaise. He is washed and I don't want to chase the old stars. Zion is a lot closer to Tractor Traylor than Charles Barkley. You don't have to like it but the fact hits you in the face. Zion's problems aren't injury they are a fundamental lack of respect for the game. Hakeem and Jordan and the stars of the past went away in the offseason and fought like hell to add new weapons to their arsenal and developed their bodies. Zion sits on the damn couch. That's not injury, that's lack of character, lack of desire, lack of passion. The Pelicans contract for him would EMBARASS anyone else. They gave him that contract to EMBARASS him. We don't want to resign you but we have to or lose everything so we are going to remove your guarantees. It oozes of resentment for having to cater to a false star. They hate him and he hates them but they both need each other. Even if he played out the rest of his contract perfectly, the likely only suitor would STILL be NOLA because of how badly he damaged his reputation.
Thanks for response but I was unable to proceed after "closer to Tractor Traylor than Charles Barkley". Traylor did not average even a single season of double digit PPG in the entirety of his 7 year NBA career. His career high was 5.7 PPG. Zion's worst season he averaged 22.5 PPG + his best season so far in his short career is 27.0 PPG. In comparison, Barkley has only had 2 seasons in his storied + illustrious career where he averaged more than 27.0 PPG.
If that is what you took from the comparison then you need to go back and look at Oliver Miller. I am not talking about their on-court achievements but about their career trajectories by not staying in shape. Zion is tremendously talented athletically and he has squandered a lot of that talent. If you believe he is going to be the same player he is today CONSISTENTLY you haven't been paying attention. If he was the player at Duke before the draft everyone would be crazy for him. What changed? Its not he was injured and recovered but stayed in shape. Almost no one talks about his injuries, they talk about him being unable to get in shape. This is much like a La'el Collins or other OL in the NFL. These are not comfortable questions in regards to a one-of-a-kind world class athlete. You show up expecting to have that squared away and the question is can you improve your skills, not is your body going to fall apart or can you even fit the damn uniform. Injuries are concerns of chance, not being able to get on the court is about personal reliability.
See discussion on Zion in Suns tracking thread. Suns next two games are against the Pelicans. It is a good time for ZIon to be having a good run as long as it ends by March 6th.
not sure why we're talking about zion in a phx draft pick thread but yea zion is a lost cause. funny how the nba/adam silver promoted him like he's the next big thing and shoved zion and the shitty pelicans team down our throats even when they sucked. now it's wemby and the spurs.
Chicago, San Antonio, Portland, Miami all need to get their **** together. Papa needs another top 4 pick.
Even though we traded most of Brooklyn’s picks back, we still have their 2027 I believe. So I’m still hoping Brooklyn misses the top 4. I want their rebuild to go as slowly as possible
The Booker price has got to be at an all time low given the circumstances What is it, Jalen/27 PHX/29 PHX? That feels completely fair at this point
Losing to the Pels at home is a pretty low moment for the Suns, probably their lowest of the season. To put it kindly, February has not been good to them (3-10).
