I really like Kenneth Grant BUT I believe that Booker or Jackson help us MORE to win it ALL this upcoming season. Besides, I believe Booker and Jackson are both capable of being all-pro guards for a decade, which certainly works for me!
I can't see the Titans taking a QB with the 1st pick when they have one of the worst rosters. I don't think the Jets are patient enough for a QB. I expect to see a trade for the #1 pick after the Combine between the Jets and Titans.
If the Titans believe Mayo Man is their future they won't pick a QB, but a first round pick could end up a lot better than Mayo Man down the road. Levis has missed so many games in his first 2 seasons and throws a lot of interceptions. I'd replace him, but I hope they don't honestly. They also have over 50 million in cap space for some good free agents.
Tidbits on Donovan Jackson in the playoff versus Tennessee, Oregon, Texas, Notre Dame, and the regular season finale against Michigan. In 2024, Donovan Jackson, an offensive tackle for Ohio State, earned an 86.0 pass-blocking grade in the College Football Playoff. This was based on 119 pass-blocking snaps where he allowed no sacks, no hits, and only two pressures. In 2024, Jackson earned an 82.4 PFF pass-blocking grade and a career-high 88.1 PFF run-blocking grade in a game against Michigan.
Tyler Booker might be the best guard in the draft but he probably won't be available at #25 and so I believe that Jackson is the guy we should take. My guess is that Nick will feel that 25 is too high for a guard and instead go for a DT and then select a lower-quality and lesser tested guard in the 2nd or 3rd round which might work out fine - or not. I truly believe that we can significantly improve our IOL and WR woes through the draft and I'm hoping that Nick doesn't **** it up.
A friend tells me I'm "obsessed" with Texans taking a OL at #25 and I'm like "Damn right I'm obsessed! Watching our star QB getting bludgeoned every week will do that!"
In the program I use, Grant, Jackson and Zabel all usually fall between our pick at 25 and our pick at 58. But Zabel (48) is more likely to still be there at 58 than either the one above [Grant (31)] or the one below [Jackson (55)]. So I will sometimes trade down and select Jackson first and sometimes Zabel will still be there at 58. But it almost never works the other way around. Most drafts have 3-5people who usually go higher fall to 25. At that point, you just have to adjust your strategy if they are good enough or fit a need. If Starks falls, you have to take him, even though it isn't an area of immediate need. If Banks or Booker falls, they are just better options where you do have an area of need, but weren't expecting them to make it to 25.
If one of Booker or Jackson aren't there I'm picking either Egbuka or Golden and if none of these guys are there I'm picking Loveland or one of the DT's
I am thinking the same. Maybe we can trade up to the mid- to upper 30s for the other. Of course, I'm not thinking about the cost, just the excitement of it all.
