as much as i would like to see MoT being traded for some valuable assets, there isn't one team in the league that doesn't have a legit PF already or that isn't saddled by enormous/overpaid PFs already.
I have no problem trading either one so long as we get something better in return, like a long term solution at pf or pg. Otherwise, pass. I'd rather not see spoon get significant backup minutes.
Looking at all the pf who fit the defensive/rebounding mold that could be availible, i hope they are pursuing Chic.'s Chandler. There are several possibilities out of either three rox. pf. I remember Chitown wanted Howard or a vet. offensive pf to complement Curry. Or offer Tspoon and draft 1st round pick We will not have the cap room to sign any reallygood pf that could hit the freemarket and we will not have a highenough draft pick to sighn one so we need to take a gamble on a youngster with high upside potential.
for me Howard's passing and smarts gives him the nod, sure Taylor is a not scoring presence when Yao is not on the floor, but with Yao it doesn't work that well... asssuming JVG works the rotations right TMac is the focus when Yao sits..... pasox... nice idea.. love to have Daniels and Radman,.... a legitimate starter and euro who can shoot, perfect!
What about a MoT + Lue + pick for Tinsley + Croshere. Tinsley will be a free agent and has been in and out of the dog house in Indiana the last few years. I think they would go for it considering they would be getting a pick and getting rid of one of their big men getting paid too much. I think Tinsley could fit well here and, if resigned in the offseason, can anchor the PG into the future. Croshere is not the athletic, defensive-minded PF we would all want, but he can do some positive things on the court, especially hit the open jumper which this team really needs. He, Spoon & Padgett could all play backup 4 depending on the matchups. Larry Hughes could be another option with him also being a free agent and they could be looking to get something before he leaves after another losing season. Or how about something involving Calvin Booth in Dallas? Or maybe Mo + Lue for Devean George + Jurmaine Jones + filler? Just some thoughts.
I want both to stay. I think the team needs both. Howard is more all-around and Mo-T is the only big scorer off the bench. I wouldn't wanna see Mo-T traded. I like him as a person and as a player, plus he's the last guy left of the Rockets core team from the past several years. If a trade for one of them had to be done, though, I'd trade him.
how valued iss mike dunleavy jr.? he spent the tail end of last season on the bench and out of form. tho' i reckon he'd be a good fit for team t-yao.
I would love to take a bad contract off of the Bulls hands plus Tyson Chandler in exchange for either MoT or JHoward, TE and a 1st round pick.
If we can swing a deal with Chicago for Tyson Chandler involving MO or Howard, he would be a good shot blocking rebounder to complement Yao. He is also athletic enough to defend the power forwards that usually create difficult match up problems for the Rockets (Garnett, Dirk N. etc).
That award probably goes to Grant Hill. Yes, he did deserve it at first. But talk about 100Million Dollars sitting on the bench for 4 seasons straight.
I'd trade Howard for Kurt Thomas. His physical game is a perfect complement of Yao and we still have Mo to provide offense off the bench.
I guess the thing I like most about this article --- is that this year we're not talking about "One will have to go: Francis or Yao". It's great that we're not talking about one of our two-headed monsters, but instead two of our candidates for PF by commitee.
I really hope that we stand pat until at least Christmas. We need to give these guys time to gel as a team and see if they can complement Yao and TMac in the ways that JVG has said he thinks they can. In some ways, I agree with the analysis in that Howard and Mo are roughly the same kind of PF, but disagree that we need someone better than Howard as our third option. Howard will be perfect in that role and IMO may have a breakout season since he will not be the primary (or the secondary for that matter) option on offense. If they are not able to gel by Christmas, we may want to look at options, but I think we have a very good rotation at 2 and 4 and we may very well have the best 5 rotation in the league. Stand pat and see what these guys can do.
I like this idea, though don't see why we would need to add the pick. How hard would it be to pry Kurt Thomas away from the Knicks?
