I touched on it. That history is the only reason a player of his talent, age + success would even be available. His ability to get to the rim + finish through multiple defenders with contact is sublime.
He isn't hideous offensively any more - just average. That may not seem like much, but he was terrible early in his career.
I think that comes with experience. I remember how bad he looked but it seemed more like nerves and youth. I feel like confidence will naturally grow with time. He's making shots now, not many but he's making them. But what has he added to his game? He still can't dribble. He still drifts. You still forget he's on the court. Not even blaming Ime, moreso Jabari. I think he lacks ambition. He plays like a mid-late first rounder instead of a 3rd pick while his peers like Chet and Paolo look miles ahead of him. How is that not motivation?
His ability is useless when he cant play due to fattiness. We can fill our roster with highly talented players with baggage Zion Williamson, Jimmy Butler, De Andre Ayton, Bolbol etc doesnt mean the talent will outweigh the baggage.
I did not mention filling in the roster with any of those other players. Why do you feel the need to muddy up the discussion by making up nonsensical talking points? Your fattiness descriptor also applies to Luka.
I don't think he lacks ambition exactly. He seems to care deeply about winning and by all appearances is a hard worker. If anything I think he's too hard on himself and gets into his own head when things aren't going well. Maybe more a lack of confidence than a lack of ambition?
I understand this fear. But this would be only reason a player of Zion's caliber would even be available this early in career (see Luka). If Zion was coming out of this draft + had injury + body concerns, would you draft him top 5 based on his freakish athleticism, speed + advanced skillset? Think Chet.
Agree! Does anyone on this board know why our idiot GM traded away the early lottery Brooklyn picks for the late lottery Suns picks? He sucks and probably cost us a legit shot at Cooper Flagg.
Luka hasnt missed a ton of games. Zion is such an injury guy the one time he played 70 games (still not a full 82 game season) he got injured in the first round of the playoffs. I wasnt muddying the waters I'm just showing you talent doesnt matter if the baggage is too heavy.
Luka has missed most of this season, and has never played an 82 game season ever. Only has 2 seasons with +70 (70, 72) games played.
Watching the Suns lose is better than watching the Rockets win. I've said this before because the Suns are closer to Flagg than the Rockets are to O'Brien.
He also doesnt have multiple less than 30 seasons like Zion. Luka just played all the way to the Finals Zion couldnt even complete the first round without being injured. Its funny you are saying Luka missed most of this season but he still played more games than Zion lmao.
What players do play all 82? 70+ is usually good enough for someone carrying your team in the playoffs. Luka played 92 games last year including the playoffs. That is like more than 95% off the entire league.
