That's exactly it. The Democrats need to do their job and be visible of course, but they also need to recognize that their only hope is if people who voted for Trump start speaking out en masse.

Studies have been done that self labeled atheists read the actual text of the bible cover to cover than self labeled Christians.

In the ex-muslim circle there is a saying - "the fastest way for a person to leave Islam is by reading the Quran(the actual translation and not the transliteration)"

Same applies with any of the Abrahamic religions.

Trump isn't going to implode in 4-6 weeks.

There are some cracks - his approval ratings have been eroding the last 3-4 weeks and overall are not very good.

However - he still has a lot of cards to play. He has control of ALL branches of government and he has a SCOTUS that really wants to approve of his actions as long as he doesn't go too bat **** crazy.

He also has control of the message and media.

What he doesn't have control of is the economy - a tremendous number of enemies he has made and continues to make - and there will be some elections coming up quicker than most believe... but I would not just assume that the Democrats are going to win.

I have read the New and Old Testament from cover to cover at least a dozen times.... have read 7-8 different versions of the Bible. I have read the Nag Hammadi texts, Treatise of Seth ..... The Torah, Prophets and Writings/Psalms, Book of Esther, Mishnah, Talmud, Zorah, Tonya - and the Book of Laws.... also Tawrat, Zabuir, Injeel, Quran and many others..... there are certainly a lot of similarities if you are looking for them, and actually the only real major difference from an attitude perspective is the depiction of Jesus Christ....... and yet, many modern Christians choose to overlook Jesus from the Scriptures and the history of VERY early Christianity and view Jesus as a character more in line with Old Testament and Quran depictions of religious figures.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised - it isn't easy to be like the figure in the New Testament when you want to accumulate assets and power and systemically keep down the poor, women and minorities.

There are good people in all faiths - but I have found many more hypocrites.

    Carville doubles down

    link will work for everyone

James Carville: It’s Time for a Daring Political Maneuver, Democrats

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/...e_code=1.zk4.qVrT.SktL86sX9m7X&smid=url-share

    excerpt:

With no clear leader to voice our opposition and no control in any branch of government, it’s time for Democrats to embark on the most daring political maneuver in the history of our party: roll over and play dead. Allow the Republicans to crumble beneath their own weight and make the American people miss us. Only until the Trump administration has spiraled into the low 40s or high 30s in public approval polling percentages should we make like a pack of hyenas and go for the jugular. Until then, I’m calling for a strategic political retreat.

The Army has a term for this: tactical pause. It’s a vision move — get out of the hour-to-hour, day-to-day combat where one side (ours) is largely playing defense and struggling to defend politically charged positions (like explaining D.E.I. or persuading voters to care about foreign aid) and take time to regroup, look forward and make decisions about where we want to get to over the next two years. I don’t think a lot of Americans are waiting around for us to use the same old arguments and same old language to pile on Donald Trump. They’re tired of it, and our Democratic voters are tired of watching us moan and groan to cover up our impotency out of power. They want us to be smarter than that.

I like listening to Carville most times, but I think he's wrong on the possum advice. Democrats have no power; all they have is their messaging at this point. They truly need to counter-message, otherwise the base will remain demoralized and will view the Democratic politicians as either feckless or complicit. Good messaging will get Trump's poll numbers down, which reduces the Republicans' swagger and may give them pause as we get closer to the mid-terms. Amp up the anti-billionaire and anti-corruption messages. Trump's meme coin, crypto and DJT stock are set up as basically a Swiss bank account to accept bribes, both domestic and foreign. Focus on housing costs and health care costs, and how Trump and Musk are doing nothing to lower costs. They are randomly firing government employees to reduce the budget to help them pass their deficit-exploding tax cut for the rich and the tech-oligarchs.

The national Democrats with the best messaging right now are Senators Chris Murphy and Brian Schatz. I heard Jake Auchincloss on the Ezra Klein podcast the other day and he had a powerful message as well, especially on housing and health care.

    Here is the thing
Trump . .. at least in the short run
Doesn't need to worry about Democrats

It's the BETRAYED REPUBLICANS that will be his biggest problem
Real or imagine there will be some Republicans that will feel betrayed
    Lied too and used
They ARE NOT as forgiving or pacifistic as Democrats
    They are not Passive
How they show up will be interesting and amazing
It may empower some other Congress people to go against him

Elon telling someone they gonna be Primaried .. . loses its effectiveness when that person
will lose anyway if they just go along with everything

They may love Elon and Trump but most love their Jobs more
(unless Elon start directly breaking them off enough to last after they get booted)
