Probably not. I think that your democracy is being destroyed and half of the country is happy about it.

Exactly. Who gives a **** what his approval rating is. He's installing MAGA loyalists at the fbi and the military. They don't care about the midterms. Things about to get really ugly in America

Trump accomplished what he wanted which was exposing how morally bankrupt America truly is

I would spend the next 3 years grifting off the medical system making millions. Then I would get me a N Korea bride and move there as it would be in a better state than Kamala's America.

If you're going to do something unpopular, you want to do it ASAP for two reasons:

    1) You can blame the negative effects on your predecessor with some plausible deniability

    2) The outrage has time to subside before the next election cycle

The Republicans already knew they were almost certainly going to lose the house in 2026, so no reason to play coy.

If you're a Unitary Executive man, I don't think you care if you lose representation in the House. But, I'm skeptical that the Republican Reps are suffering as much as recent press wants to claim. Town halls are anecdotal evidence. Push polls are worse. And whatever a voter tells you today is unreliable in understanding what he will do 18 months from now facing a binary choice in the solitude of his polling booth.

This. Also the Trump regime understands that it'll take time to get their unlawful EO's up to the Supreme Court where they have a chance to get the power they want. They know that going through Congress & the democratic lawful way will take time to get bills pass, and they have like a 3 seat majority in the house where a couple attention seekers will use their power to slow the process & get their backs scratched.

Trump needs the Supreme Court rulings as fast possible if he wants the power he needs to really remake the government into a autocracy before his time is up, and he then has to do things like January 6th to stay in power. He wants real autocratic power which means getting things through the courts ASAP.

You have to assume there is a curve being given to Republicans because of the media bubble that insulates most of their voters. I like you don't think the MAGA brand is collapsing as much as the polls are initially showing, but there's a little bit of bleeding for sure.

It'll really be all about turnout at the midterms, and the Democratic organizing machine isn't as effective this past election cycle as it was in 18, and 20. Much of that was Biden's fault yes, but still. I think the turnout will be enough to win back the House, but by great of a margin really does matter.

And yeah I don't think Trump cares at all, and honestly probably wants a slim Democratic majority in the House so that way he has an enemy he can point to in 2028.... because we ALL know if he's healthy enough he is going to be running again right?? Either running directly with some help from SCOTUS, or just doing the Putin thing where he is running as VP, or is given a 3rd party title like "Prime Minister" or whatever and still essentially in charge. Either way, we know he cares about 2028, and making sure he stays in power either through the election, or just by sheer autocratic force.

And to give the angle a little credit, even if the next Congress is 2 years away and even if their electoral chances don't end up undermined, Congressmen's insecurity about their next election might influence how they behave now. If they feel like the pushback is real, they might try to assert their own Congressional power now to demonstrate how they are "doing something." That said, there is also a chance (perhaps a more significant one) that Trump will use voter displeasure with Congressmen to blackmail them: "Your approval rate is falling and if you don't vote for my priorities I will make sure you get primaried."

    Trump is a lame duck.

He'll hit hard and fast because he only has 2 years before Congress refuses his marching orders to drown under their tears and spit.

I'm not sure why he gave Elon all the power and the presidency's first 100 days of goodwill, but Elon playing heel while Donny doles out checks with his sig looks clever.

It's just I don't even think Donny knows what his bunk buddy is doing all night.

He's letting Elon play God and therefore also take all the heat.

    It's pretty brilliant strategy tbh.

Thursday’s filings with the Federal Election Commission show that the Tesla and SpaceX executive gave a total of $238 million to a super PAC that he founded this year, America PAC,
which worked to turn out voters on Trump’s behalf in key states.

But he also was the financial backer of other groups that cropped up in the final days of the election to support Trump, including one that spent millions on advertising to defend his record on abortion.

Trump plans to die in office, one way or the other. There is nothing subtle about it.

    Basically. I agree with this.

    Agreed. This is true.

    I can see this
But Trump isn't running anything right now . .. Elon is
So the figure head doesn't matter

IMO trump knows he has a solid 2 years to screw this up as only he can. If the Dems take back power, it will help but they can't really pass anything, I guess they could try and pass a law for middle America and if trump doesn't sign it they can use it against the party in 28. I can't believe I am about to type this, but if he tried to run a third time "some" gop cucks would not go for that.................but hell, I never thought they would allow muskrat and trump do what they're doing now. It sucks, but some in maga won't change until if directly affects them and as another poster said, you never know what their mindset will be in 2 years or 4 years. My Mom, bless her heart, is a maga and is on SS and she is 100% sure trump wont allow cuts to this program.......she thinks they are just getting rid of waste......................I hope she is right, if you try and cut SS and Medicare you will lose the blue hairs next election. I am all for getting fraud out of anything but I would hope they would use the surgical approach and not the wrecking ball method
