I am trying to create buttons for my webpage. I am having trouble getting the image files to stay small. MS Image Composer is saving the 1 color gif's I make as like 1.4kb Images and I was wondering if anyone knew of any way I could get them smaller. Clutch how do you get the file size on your buttons to stay so small? ------------------ ~John~ Hi, my name is John and I'm a clutchaholic. Houston NHL
Johnny - it depends on the software you are using to create them. Image Composer may or may not have image compression - probably not. If not, there are a bunch of cool freeware and shareware programs that compress GIF's and JPEG's into smaller images. Try going to ZDNET.com and go to their download section and look for a GIF compressor. Also, if you have enough money, you could pick up a copy of Photoshop 5.5 - it has built in "save for web" capabilities. As an example, I use Photoshop 5 which does not have that type of image compression and, for $20, I got a little shareware program called BoxTop Pro for compressing JPG images and it works GREAT! Good luck. ------------------ "No one gets out ALIVE!" SaveOurRockets.com
Thanks Jeff tomorow at school I'll try photoshop and see how that does. ------------------ ~John~ Hi, my name is John and I'm a clutchaholic. Houston NHL
Jeff gave you some good advice there. I think it depends on whether you want to spend any money or not. Having a program like Photoshp would obviously be the best choice, but very expensive as well. I would go with the shareware programs or with something that someone else can provide (e.g. friends, school, etc.).... ------------------ Nederland 2000 NBA+stupidity=Brand ROY NBA+common sense=Franchise MVP Houston Rockets Space Center- Not just another ClutchCity.NET clone.
