We can't even split the lineup correctly. Never should have let Press go.

I’m not really seeing an infatuation. Arenado is one of the only everyday caliber players currently available. He is a well above average defensive 3B and projects to be an average to above average hitter. He can hit both lefties and righties so doesn’t require a platoon mate. And most likely he won’t be prohibitively expensive. This team needs a 6 hole hitter who can play the field and Arenado fits that description.

Agree 100%. He would be a very good fit and likely won’t cost much. He’s also regarded as a great clubhouse leader, so could go a long way toward filling the leadership “void” Bregman created by leaving.

I've seen enough pencil him in the lineup.

Maybe with a few years to reflect on it, it finally dawned on him how badly he ****ed things up after ‘22.

He’s not great… but he is still good enough to be an everyday MLB player. The 2025 Astros need more of those.

We are not really talking about going after yet another third baseman again are we? This is the most ridiculous idea I have heard since,,, well since I heard the same damn idea all off season. I have no interest in trading any of our few decent youngsters for a damn 33 year old has been infielder we have no use for. For Christs sake.

A 3B that doesn’t even want to be here lol

    It’s not gonna happen though

If TB wants to shed B Lowe salary and we could get him for a couple of mid prospects that they see something in, that would make sense moving Altuve to LF. But NOTHING about the Arenado talk makes sense which is why I think Crane is leading that not Dana

Question about NTC. If a player waives his NTC, does he no longer have one once he's traded? One of the reasons Arenado is being picky is he said he doesn't want to move his family to a new city and and then have to worry about moving them again to another city just in case he gets traded again(which is why he wants to go to a contender and wanted to wait out how the Astros off season would look like). If the Astros really wanted him, would you tell him he can keep his NTC? Is that enough for him to waive to join the Astros? He has 3 years left and I would hope that the Astros will be competing in those 3 years but too risky to give him the NTC?

That can all be negotiated and typically the player will keep their NTC with the new team. I don’t think that would be a hangup.

Especially, if they are saying Cam Smith could be ready soon. I saw three AB's yesterday and could already see great plate discipline, good eye, early recognition, good fast-twitch muscles and strength on check swings. I think he is going to be a fixture in the middle of the lineup. No idea if his defensive skills are good enough to man 3rd base yet or if they're thinking he'll eventually play some OF.

Yeah it doesn’t make any sense. Especially since it would put us back in the luxury tax for a second year in a row and cripple us even further in the future. Just a bad idea all around.

I'm good with Arenado if the Cards pay his entire salary. ;)

I don't know why so many folks are worried about Crane's money. Crane has also proven that he will spend up to what he thinks a player is worth. I think fans have ADS (Abreu Derangement Syndrome). Arenado is 33 not 36 and is still a plus defensive player and a legitimate MLB hitter, which we currently only have 5 sure things. If the Cards pay a significant part of his salary and we don't have to give up one of our top prospects, he is a slam dunk. He is as good a 3b as Bregman and people were wanting to pay him 30M+ a year (albeit younger). Sign me up at the right price. We have a chance to win a world series this year with the right moves.
