And now you tell me why Jalen green can’t be better than Edwards

Ant (1 yr ahead of Jalen) has had the luxury of multiple 3-pt shooters to space the floor
at least his last two seasons.

Bigs like Naz Reid. Julius Randle, KAT may not shoot high quantity; but shot enough and
hit a high enough percentage to allow Ant Man to get his groove on.

If Ant had the same players Jalen has had, and forced to be predominantly a jump
shooter (because of packed paint), Ant would struggle as well.

Steph Curry, Ant isn't, when a player can hit 3's all day while just stepping off the bus.

Guys, this post is a confession indicating the thread is a knee-jerk reaction to last night's game.

No sane person thinks Jalen is a better short-term or long-term prospect than Ant, who literally does Every Single Thing better than Jalen on both ends of the court.

This is such a historically stupid thread, it almost has to be satire.

 

Why?

Mainly reality.

 

I mean there's probably a very (edit: very very) low-likelihood scenario where Jalen becomes better, but so far Ant has been better at the same ages every step of the way, and it hasn't been particularly close.

Edwards is really good. I’m always especially impressed with his ball handling and footwork in tight areas. His ability to get a shot off and do it under control is amazing.
I think Edwards had a impact on the game last night, but I also think that we executed what we want to do on him game plan wise and made him inefficient overall.

Green was the slightly better player last night, but Edwards is a top five guy in the league.

 

When you look at Jalen Green you hope he turns in to Ant.

When you look at Ant you know he's the man. No question!

 

I would be happy if JG just got kinda close to Ant as a scorer. Doesn't even to match him, just be in the same ballpark.

 

Lol, if the Rockets had the #1 pick, we were going to draft Cade over Jalen - please stop...ANT is a multiple All-Star, Olympic Gold Medalist...Jalen is not even our best player on the team and possibly will be traded for Booker this off-season.

I take Jalen, we have the stats to back it up

Ant is like 1-20 in clutch time shots maybe 2-21 I don’t feel like finding the video but it’s on X

Ant role is way more aggressive than JG because his coach lets him be the Alpha - JG can be hot and we still stop going to him to play through Alpi for our offensive sets no matter what

Ant has way better screeners and shooters on his team but guess what… Rockets have a better record just like we have better record than Suns

Ant has way more turnovers a game than JG and he has a bunch of low efficiency games but gets the whistles JG doesn’t

 

Cause he doesn't want to be. Yeah he has a lot of the same tools but for some reason he'll still find a way to score 9 points in a game. That's what makes Jalen so frustrating. We all see what he can be but he just isn't. He's not a rookie anymore, you can't just keep saying potential potential potential forever. Eventually you have to actualize that. I'm not saying he can't be an Allstar or even All NBA player but in a direct comparison to Ant, I don't think they're even in the same league because Ant's biggest strength is the mental component that is also Jalen's biggest weakness.

 

Not sure Jalen is best comparison with Ant. Both play SG but Ant is much more physical + robust for his size.

Agree….our hope long term should just be for Jalen to someday be the second or first best on his own team. Right now he’s behind Alpi and Amen. An all-star bid would be nice too someday. Ant is a multi time all-star who is unstoppable when not triple teamed and will probably be a Hall of Famer when all is said and done. Not sure, to be honest, if Jalen will make the Rockets Team Hall of Fame at this point of his career.

 

Ant is a chunker (25+ shots in 5 of last 7 games) 2 games 13-28 which are great but the others are horrid without the benefit of whistle - he has a huge push behind him to make him the next face of the league and he says he doesn’t want it but look at all the commercials he’s in

JG has a WingStop commercial so that’s a step on right direction for his marketing team, I forgot the other commercial where someone stole his clothes lol

I love the fact that JG doesn’t mind being coached, he doesn’t pout, he doesn’t miss games or makes excuses.. he’s the ultimate teammate - his temperament may never allow him to be a Alpha but he’s growing into a good #2 who can step up to #1 on enough occasions for a winning team
